We’ve listed all seven new documentaries coming to Netflix in March 2026 down below. Let’s explore!

Danish documentary series A Friend, A Murderer tells the chilling story of how a quaint Danish town’s close-knit community was transformed into distrust and fear following assaults, kidnapping, and murder. When the perpetrator was ultimately caught, friendship group Amanda, Nichlas and Kiri learn that they were close to them. How did they not notice?

“For years, I feared the perpetrator was still out there and that I could be the next victim,” Amanda said. “When I realised it was one of my closest friends, my world shattered. I’ve come to realize that even the people you trust the most can hide a dark side, and that feeling safe isn’t something you can always take for granted.”

This documentary explores broken trust, told from the perspectives of those close to the perpetrator.

The Dinosaurs

Coming to Netflix: March 6

Documentaries don’t get more star-studded than The Dinosaurs. The upcoming, four-part nature documentary series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and narrated by Morgan Freeman. The wider team consists of those involved in making Life on Our Planet, another acclaimed nature documentary narrated by Freeman

The Dinosaurs takes viewers on in immersive journey into the Mesozoic Era, documenting the rise and fall of the dinosaurs over 165 million years. Drawing on data from the latest palaeontology research, the series uses enhanced CGI visuals to bring the period to life.

The TikTok Killer

Coming to Netflix: March 6

Netflix has had a lot of success over the years with documentaries spotlighting the dangers of social media — look no further than The Tinder Swindler. New docu-series The TikTok Killer takes viewers back to 2023. Set in Spain, it explores the case of Esther Estepa, a 42-year-old woman who disappeared after meeting up with a social media content creator.

The official logline reads:

When Esther vanishes without a trace, her family is able to piece together her last movements thanks to José Jurado Montilla, a traveler who journeys across Spain sharing heartfelt videos of his trips on his TikTok account. But “Dynamite” Montilla – the last person to have been with Esther – hides a dark past.

Directed by Héctor Muniente, the two-episode documentary explores the cast through archival footage and interviews with those closest to Esther.

Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere

Coming to Netflix: March 11

Louis Theroux has created over 50 documentaries in his extensive career, notably through a long-standing collaboration with the BBC. However, new feature-length doc, Inside the Manosphere, marks his first-ever Netflix Original project.

Inside the Manosphere is helmed by Adrian Choa (Vice Life Hacks with Oobah Butler) and sees Theroux head to the United States to immerse himself in the world of extreme online influencers and content creators who are redefining modern masculinity. In true Theroux style, he examines the ideologies behind it, and interviews the women who support these views.

The Plastic Detox

Coming to Netflix: March 16

The worldwide issue with plastics is more than well-documented nowadays. We all know the environmental impact of microplastics. And yet, plastic remains so ingrained in modern life; it’s unavoidable. Netflix series The Plastic Detox explores the heavy impact of everyday exposure to plastics.

The documentary is helmed by Louie Psihoyos (You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment) and Josh Murphy. It chronicles the journeys of six couples facing unexplained fertility challenges. It shines a light on the devastating impact of phthalates and bisphenols in the diet, featuring interviews with industry experts.

The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Our Brother, Hillel

Coming to Netflix: March 20

Hailing from California, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the most popular rock bands in history. From Under the Bridge, to Californication, to Can’t Stop, and beyond — their hits have transcended generations. With over 120 million records sold, they’re officially among the best-selling bands of all-time.

Now, Netflix is exploring the origins of the band through their formative early years. Directed by Ben Feldman and produced by Hillel Slovak’s brother, James, the main focus is on Hillel Slovak, the band’s original guitarist and a key figure in developing their signature sound. Slovak tragically passed away from a heroin overdose in 1988. This documentary features interviews with band members Anthony Kiedis and Flea, although the members have since distanced themselves from the documentary’s marketing.

BTS: THE RETURN

Coming to Netflix: March 27

BTS, the most successful band in K-pop history, will take to Netflix to stream their first performance since returning. Of course, the band went on hiatus due to South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements. The much-anticipated reunion performance will be broadcast from Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.

On March 27, Netflix will release a companion, feature-length documentary chronicling the band’s behind-the-scenes process of making their latest album ARIRANG.
