Pride Month may not officially kick off until June, but Jasper is celebrating early with the Jasper Pride & Ski Festival from April 4 to 13. After all, there’s no snow in June (hopefully).
Described as “the only gay ski week in the Canadian Rocky Mountains,” the Jasper Pride & Ski Festival offers an amazing 10 days of adventure where everyone is welcome. And yes, 10 days is a little bit more than a week, but recent years have seen an increase in popularity, which leads to longer festivities. How great is that?
Fun for the family
There’s no shortage of events across the 10-day festival, including fun for the whole family. On April 5, check out the Proud Peaks Ski Parade — bonus points if you don your best and brightest ski wear. A Family Pride Party will take place later that evening. You can also enjoy Stories, Songs & S’mores on April 6 and Pride Storytime on April 10.
And family isn’t just parents and kids. Teens and older adults count, too! The Teen Pride Party on April 8 is a place for 12 to 18-year-olds to enjoy roller-disco, games, crafts, and laughter among friends in a safe and inclusive space, while those ages 55 and up are welcome to Seniors Drag Bingo on April 11.
Pride and parties

What’s a pride celebration without a vibrant nightlife scene? Take in an evening of Drag performances and non-stop dancing at Divalicious, catch up with old and new friends at the Mountain Pride Party, and let your inner fire glow at Jasper Pride Party: Phoenix Rising.
If you aren’t into parties, no worries — there’s still plenty of fun to be had at the Jasper Pride & Ski Festival. Both Saturdays will feature a performance by local artist Gregory Deagle at Tera, along with themed cocktails and cheesecake. Paint the Rainbow allows those 18 and up to unleash their creative side with an art class. There’s also an opportunity to put your game face on at Pride Night Trivia or see if you can get lucky at Drag Bingo!
And, of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Visit JasperPride.ca for a full list of events happening throughout the festival.
Pride celebrations are a testament to resilience and a tribute to the unbreakable spirit of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Whether you’re an ally, part of this community, or on a journey of self-discovery, you are welcome to celebrate love and inclusivity this April in the Rocky Mountains.
