Dancing With the Stars fans are defending Cheryl Burke after Alix Earle’s stepmom, Ashley Dupré, made some surprising comments about her following Halloween Night.
The ballroom pro was invited to guest judge the episode, and was the only judge on the panel to give Earle and her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy a “9” for their tango to Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend.” Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli all scored the dance a perfect 10, but Burke had noticed that the couple broke hold during the performance, so she deducted a point.
“Oh, go take more Ozempic,” Dupré said in a TikTok video, reacting to Burke’s scoring. While some fans thought the comment was funny, others weren’t impressed. In fact, there’s now a Reddit thread about Dupré’s comment and many are defending Burke.
“All because Cheryl gave her a 9? Cheryl praised Alix, the comment was more towards Val since he is the one who did the choreo. What is wrong with people, this is sick,” one person wrote.

“Like, it wasn’t exactly a great diss to start with but to throw it out over something like that is really tacky. Cheryl was completely valid for docking a point for them breaking hold. I wish she’d had the time to specify that it was Val’s fault and not Alix’s and then it might not have been so poorly received, but it’s not like she gave them a 6 or something for it! I know of several couples who would have loved a 9 for their dance,” someone else said.
“This is not very classy and really hurts Alix’s reputation. Cheryl says it how it is and I think that whether you agree or not, you have to respect her as a judge and appreciate the amount of experience and knowledge she has. Also call me too woke but if you can’t change it in five minutes don’t comment on it! I fear we are too old to be body shaming Anyway that’s my rant lol,” a third comment read.
