‘Fascination’ Singer and Broadway Star Jane Morgan Dies at Age 101: ‘Never Be Forgotten'

4 August 20253 Mins Read

Popular Broadway star and American singer Jane Morgan died at age 101.

The “Fascination” singer died of natural causes on Monday, August 4, in Naples, Florida, according to multiple reports.

“Our beloved Jane passed away peacefully in her sleep,” Jane’s family wrote in a statement, per Deadline.

Jane was a pop culture sensation between the 1950s and 1960s. She became a nationwide star as she spoke and sang in five different languages. Jane was popular for her hit 1957 French song “Fascination,” featuring The Troubadors. That year, the song was included in the star-studded movie Love in the Afternoon, which featured Audrey Hepburn, Gary Cooper and Maurice Chevalier.

“Fascination” went on to reach the Billboard Hot 100 chart in September 1957, and peaked at the No. 7 spot on the Disk Jockey chart.

Jane reached career milestone after milestone throughout the 1960s. The Massachusetts native performed at the Oscars twice. She made her first appearance in 1961 for her performance of “The Second Time Around,” and made her way back five years later to sing “I Will Wait for You (Je ne Pourrai Jamais Vivre sans Toi)” alongside Michael Legrand.

Fans loved Jane, who appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show a whopping 50 times.

The entertainer was also a Broadway star, starring in Ziegfeld Follies in 1957, The Jack Benny Show in 1963 and Mame between 1968 and 1969.

Jane took on the wife role in 1965 when she married popular music-turned-film Jerry Weintraub. He shared a son, Michael, from a previous marriage. After the couple tied the knot, they adopted their daughters, Julie, Jamie and Jody. Jane and Michael later separated before he died in 2015. They remained legally married.

Jane was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011. The fashionista looked effortlessly chic as she donned a pinstripe suit and a white blouse with a low button and high collar. The top featured an open neckline, leaving room for her double-layered pearl necklace.

Instead of reading a prepared speech, Jane sent her vibrant aura to the crowd as she beautifully sang “Fascination,” making the attendees join in on the tune.

“ONE OF THE GREATEST SINGERS OF ALL TIME!” a fan wrote in the comments section of a clip of her ceremony via YouTube. “BEAUTY, GRACE, AND A PEERLESS SINGER. I HOPE SHE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.”
