Fearless ‘Hacks’ Scene-Stealer Claps Back at Body Shamers: ‘I Love It’

11 July 20252 Mins Read

Actress Meg Stalter, 34, is having her moment. The scene-stealing Hacks star, who first gained attention by posting hilarious videos on Instagram, now takes center stage in a splashy new Netflix series. Too Much, written by Girls alum Lena Dunham, casts Stalter in the lead role opposite The White Lotus actor Will Sharpe.

The duo portrays a couple loosely based on Dunham and her husband, musician Luis Felber, who also executive produces the series alongside Dunham.

Too Much is earning praise from critics—not just for its sharp writing and emotional depth, but for breaking new ground by casting a full-figured actress in the lead role without making the story about her weight. While creator Dunham has publicly shared her struggles with body image—choosing not to star in Too Much herself after facing relentless online body shaming during her time on Girls—this new series takes a different approach.

This isn’t a show about weight—and that’s exactly how Dunham and Stalter want it.

That said, questions about body image still come up in interviews promoting the series. When asked about online body shaming and red carpet criticism, Stalter didn’t hold back.

On the red carpet, the actress delivered a pitch-perfect response, “I think I put up with that stuff online for so long that I couldn’t go on any site without being called a fat [expletive], and I don’t care. And I love it. So I think I’m okay with anything anyone says about me.”
