Power’s Larenz Tate and Michael’s Nia Long will star and produce Netflix’s upcoming feature film, The Hang Suite. The film is inspired by Maxwell’s studio album Urban Hang Suite, and filming is reportedly set to begin on December 8, 2025. Here’s everything we know about The Hang Suite on Netflix.
The Hang Suite is an upcoming drama film co-written and directed by Eugene Ashe (Homecoming). Kay Oyegun (This Is Us) wrote the film’s script, inspired by Maxwell’s R&B album Urban Hang Suite. Macro Film Studios is the production studio behind the project, with James Lopez, Charles D. King, and Poppy Hanks confirmed as producers.
Maxwell has been confirmed as an executive producer on the film, alongside John D. Hammond, Nia Long, and Larenz Tate.

What is the plot of The Hang Suite?
The film will center on a happily married couple who begin to experience empty-nest syndrome and must learn to live their lives together outside of parenthood.
Who are the cast members of The Hang Suite?
Nia Long and Larenz Tate have been confirmed as the leads of the film. The pair previously worked together on the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic.
Nia Long has starred in several Netflix films and television shows, such as You People, Look Both Ways, Fatal Affair, blackAF, and Dear White People.

Larenz Tate has only starred in one Netflix project, in 2017’s Deuces. He is best known for starring as Councilman Rashad Tate in the crime drama Power and its sequel, Power Book II: Ghost.

Reported in issue 1481 of Production Weekly, filming is scheduled to begin on December 8, 2025, in Keamy, New Jersey. Filming will run for several weeks before ending on February 6, 2026.
Filming dates are subject to change.
When is The Hang Suite coming to Netflix?
If filming ends by the reported date (February 6, 2026), we could see the film on Netflix before the end of 2026. However, a 2027 release is most likely.
