Final Season of Late Food Network Chef’s Series Premieres

28 July 20253 Mins Read

The final season of Anne Burrell’s Worst Cooks in America, titled Talented and Terrible, premieres tonight, marking the beginning of a poignant farewell to the beloved Food Network star. This season features a cast of celebrities hoping to level up their kitchen skills and impress the judges as they compete to stay in the game. Filmed shortly before Burrell’s death in June 2025, the season stands as a tribute to her humor, bold personality, and dedication to transforming even the most hopeless cooks.

Per an official synopsis, “Chefs Anne Burrell and Gabe Bertaccini have just seven weeks to turn a talented bunch of culinary train wrecks into kitchen stars, but first, they need to know what they’re up against! The recruits kick things off with their signature showstopper dish.”

The statement concludes, “Then, in the main dish challenge, they tackle the ultimate test: recreating the chef’s ‘winner winner chicken dinner.’ Those with promise move on while the rest face elimination.”

Worst Cooks in America premiered in 2010 with the late chef at the helm. This current installment, Burrell’s last, is Season 29.

In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Burrell’s co-host Bertaccini shared details of working with the late television personality. “It wasn’t a co-hosting job. It was mostly like you are on a ride with Anne. And it was fun.”

“One thing that I have to say, the love, the authentic love that she had for the contestants, for the cooks, the love that she had to really teach them. She was there to teach them how to cook, it wasn’t just a show,” he said.

Bertaccini concluded, “I’m going to watch the season, a lot of memories will come back. This is not going to be about me whatsoever. This is about Anne, and this is going to be about Anne.”

The Food Network star died on Tuesday, June 17. PEOPLE confirmed her cause of death was ruled a suicide. She was 55.

Food Network celebrated Burrell’s life via Instagram, writing on the day of her death. “We are deeply saddened to share the news that beloved chef Anne Burrell passed away this morning. Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent, teaching, competing, and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends, and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”

Worst Cooks in America: Talented and Terrible premieres July 28 at 9 pm ET on Food Network. It will stream on HBO Max beginning July 29.
