Flavor Flav, 66, Makes Bold Political Statement on Stage During Recent Show

16 June 20253 Mins Read

Original fans of the hip-hop groundbreaking group Public Enemy are familiar with the group’s “controversial” music. From the get-go, “Fight the Power” was an anthem that served as the soundtrack to a ton of causes. And one of the groups iconic members Flavor Flav, 66, is still keeping that socially conscious spirit alive.

Today’s political climate is rife with turmoil; but matters came to a head over the weekend of June 14th with protests erupting across the country. In a performance, wearing an iconic Taylor Swift shirt, Flavor Flav made an inspirational statement to the crowd.

“I’m against racism,” he began. “No matter what race that we come from, no matter what color we are, no matter what language we speak, no matter what religion that we study, at the end of the day we are all sisters and brothers and we must all get together and build a wall of unity.”

He then instructed the crowd to make a peace sign then bring their fingers together to represent peace and unity. Then he asked them to make a fist, throw their arm up and know that it represented power.

“With peace and togetherness, we would all have so much power,” he continued. “…All built the wall of unity, it would be so strong no others can come in and tear down what we got. And when it comes down to peace, like my boy Chuck D. says. ‘I’d rather live in peace than rest in peace.'”

Fans were extremely moved by his thoughtful speech.

“This is what using your platform for good looks like,” noted one.

“We demand our right to live in peace with our brothers and sisters in community, no matter what color, language or religion,” added another.

Flavor Flav also is currently the official sponsor with the USA Water Polo women’s and men’s national teams, and has supported them financially. The five year deal is aimed to help elevate the visibility of the sport will attend team events, including the Olympics.

Though more recent generations may know him for his reality TV appearances from The Surreal Life to Flavor of Love, his roots have always been in activism, and fans are delighted to see he’s still carrying the torch.
