Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced its intention to introduce the Park Hyatt brand to Vancouver, Canada, with a projected opening in 2026. The hotel, previously known as Shangri-La Vancouver, is currently operating as Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni. A significant renovation will precede its rebranding to Park Hyatt.

The property is located at 1128 West Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver. It features 119 rooms and is situated in the city’s tallest building, offering views of the harbor and coastal mountains. The hotel is currently available for booking through Hyatt’s reservation channels.

The planned renovation will involve a comprehensive redesign of the guestrooms, lobby, public spaces, and spa. This transformation aims to align the hotel with the Park Hyatt brand standards. The hotel will become the first Park Hyatt in Vancouver and the fifth Hyatt hotel in the province of British Columbia.

The hotel’s restaurant, Carlino, which is Michelin-recommended, will continue to operate during the transition. The restaurant focuses on northern Italian cuisine with a menu that changes seasonally.

The rebranding of the hotel to Park Hyatt is part of Hyatt’s strategy to expand its luxury offerings in key urban markets in Canada. The Park Hyatt Vancouver will join Park Hyatt Toronto in representing the brand in the country.
