Four Seasons and Gruppo Statuto plan to open a Four Seasons hotel in Berlin in late 2027, following a renovation of the historic Hotel de Rome.
Four Seasons, in partnership with European hotel developer Gruppo Statuto, has announced plans to open a hotel in Berlin by late 2027. The new establishment will be located in the historic Hotel de Rome, which will undergo a significant renovation before reopening under the Four Seasons brand.
The property, situated in Berlin’s Mitte district on Bebelplatz, will feature approximately 140 guest rooms and suites. The renovation will maintain the building’s original façade while updating the interior to blend historical and modern design elements. The hotel will include three restaurants and bars, with a rooftop terrace offering views of the city.
The Hotel de Rome, originally the Dresdner Bank headquarters, built in the late 1800s, was converted into a hotel in 2006. It will continue to operate under its current name until 2026, after which it will transition to the Four Seasons brand. During the renovation period, select services and amenities will remain available to guests.
The hotel will be managed by Christian Poda, who has been with Four Seasons since 1999. Poda, a Berlin native, will oversee the hotel’s transition and operations. The renovation will be led by architectural firm Humbert & Poyet, focusing on preserving the building’s historical features while introducing contemporary design elements.
The hotel’s location places it near several cultural and historical landmarks, including St. Hedwig’s Cathedral, the State Opera Unter den Linden, the Brandenburg Gate, and Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The property is also accessible from Berlin Brandenburg Airport and Berlin Central Station, facilitating travel to other major cities in Germany and Europe.
Four Seasons and Gruppo Statuto have previously collaborated on projects in Italy, including properties in Taormina and Milan. This Berlin project marks Four Seasons’ return to the city after a 20-year absence, expanding its presence in the European market.
