Fran Drescher Mourns Beloved 'The Nanny' Actor and Director

Fran Drescher is saying goodbye to a member of The Nanny community.

The actress, known for playing the titular role in the hit 1990ssitcom, took to social media on Sunday, Jan. 4 to react to the recent death of Steve Posner, an actor and director on The Nanny who also served as a “mentor” to Drescher and others.

Sharing a throwback photo of Posner alongside a number of their other The Nanny colleagues, Drescher wrote on Instagram, “Our beloved Steve Posner who mentored me and Peter at Hillcrest High & later joined The Nanny mentoring and guiding the kids on the show, acting and directing as well.”

“He will long be remembered for his wisdom, big heart and talent,” Drescher, 68, continued. “He is survived by his adoring wife Roz Kern. Together they would often break into song and that’s how I will think of him always.”

At the end of her post, Drescher also included a poignant reminder for her followers, writing, “Life is very ephemeral. Don’t take a moment for granted. Not one moment!”

She concluded, “With love & prayers, Fran 🕊️💔😢🙏🏻☮️”

Drescher did not divulge any information regarding the cause or circumstances surrounding Posner’s death.

The actress’ post on was shared by other members of The Nanny cast and crew to their own respective social media pages, including Peter Marc Jacobson, one of the sitcom’s main writers and Drescher’s former husband. He re-posted Drescher’s message to his own Instagram Story on Sunday.

Posner, in addition to his work on The Nanny, is also credited with minor roles in TV movies like A Kiss So Deadly (1996), Spring Fling! (1995), Moment of Truth: Caught in the Crossfire (1994) and an episode of the TV series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman in 1994.
