Full House stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber shocked fans when they revealed the show’s iconic Mr. Woodchuck prop came at a hefty price.
During the Tuesday, August 6, episode of their “How Rude, Tanneritos!” podcast, co-hosts Barber, 49, and Sweetin, 43, talked about the introduction of Mr. Woodchuck during the show’s 100th episode, “The Legend of Ranger Joe.”
The episode marked the first time Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier) appeared as children’s TV show personality “Ranger Joe,” who had a puppet sidekick called Mr. Woodchuck. Joey went on to appear as Ranger Joe throughout the rest of the series, while fans quickly got to know the side character of Mr. Woodchuck.
“I learned this from reading Jeff’s book. This puppet cost $25,000,” Barber revealed during the episode, referring to show creator Jeff Franklin.
Sweetin chimed in, “I remember hearing that after Dave’s dog ate the face off of it. Twenty years later, he was like, ‘You have no idea. You don’t even know how expensive that was. You don’t even know.'”
“It was built by the Henson Muppet Monster Workshop,” Sweetin, who is an outspoken Jim Henson fan, explained. “They have a special little Muppet fleecing that they use. I got to touch a Hanson Muppet monster creation, even then.”
Back in 2016, Coulier, 65, revealed in a Reddit AMA that he kept the original Mr. Woodchuck puppet when the show ended in 1995. However, the puppet was eventually ruined when the actor’s dog, ironically named Ranger, ripped it open.

“I kept the original Mr. Woodchuck. And then my dog Ranger ate his face,” Coulier told a fan at the time.
Barber appeared on the beloved sitcom as the Tanner’s next door neighbor Kimmy Gibbler, while Sweetin played middle child Stephanie Tanner. The series ran on ABC for eight seasons.
