Fun Father’s Day activities happening in and around Calgary

4 June 20253 Mins Read

You didn’t forget about Dad, did you?

June is here, which means Father’s Day is fast approaching. There’s still time to plan the perfect outing to show the father figure in your life just how much you care, and there is no shortage of super fun events happening in Calgary over Father’s Day weekend. (That is, if Dad doesn’t end up going golfing or fishing on his own. Dads seem to like that.)

Here are eight ideas to get you started.

Sometimes dads need to be released into their natural habitats — garage sales, that is. Give him plenty of time to roam the 25,000 square feet of previously owned treasures, and maybe even get him a little something while you’re at it.

When: Saturday, June 14, 2025
Where: Acadia Rec Complex — 240 90th Ave. SE
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission: $2

Bridgeland Distillery Inc. is hosting its first-ever blending workshop, and it just so happens to fall on Father’s Day weekend. You’ll learn about the science of blending, taste a curated selection of base spirits, and even build your own custom whisky from scratch.

When: Saturday, June 14, 2025
Where: Bridgeland Distillery Inc — 77 Edmonton Trl.
Time: 4 p.m.
Admission: $100

The Hangar Flight Museum is celebrating dads with its annual Wings and Wheels event, which features flying crafts, a vehicle show and shine, and entry into the flight decks of various aircraft. And of course, dads get free admission.

When: Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15, 2025
Where: The Hangar Flight Museum — 4629 McCall Way NE
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission: $17 for adults, $12 for students, $9 for kids, and dads for free

All aboard! Aspen Crossing has two train trips that offer a special supper or brunch for dads, including a barbeque, cold beer, and…a train robbery?

When: Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15, 2025
Where: Directions here
Time: 5 p.m. on the 14th, noon on the 15th
Admission: $120 for adults, $65 for kids

National at Spruce Meadows wraps up on Father’s Day weekend, so it’s your last chance to watch top athletes from around the world compete on the famous international ring. Plus, if you stick around, City and Colour is performing a solo show in the evening.

When: Sunday, July 15
Where: Spruce Meadows — 18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW
Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission: $16.19 for adults, $10.79 for kids (City and Colour tickets are $129)

Take brunch to the next level by dining at the Safari Lodge in the Calgary Zoo. Not only will guests enjoy a delicious meal, but kids can create a craft on-site to show Dad how much they care.

When: Sunday, June 15, 2025
Where: Calgary Zoo — 210 Saint George’s Dr. NE
Time: Seatings at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Admission: $47.96 for adults, $29.88 for kids

It’s a day full of dad jokes and barbecue smoke at TELUS Spark. Explore the exhibits, personalize a custom apron, and dine on the specialty barbecue menu courtesy of The Notorious P.I.G.
