The “Garb of the Pilgrims” quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong provides a great way to obtain a large stack of rosaries early on. All you need are 12 Pilgrim Shawls… but where do you find them?
Here’s how to get the “Garb of the Pilgrims” quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong and how to collect 12 Pilgrim Shawls.

The “Garb of the Pilgrims” quest will be ready for pickup at the quest board in Bone Bottom, the first village in the game, once the bug called Flick the Fixer has finished building the board.
I found the quest board unlocked after defeating the Bell Beast boss in The Marrow, but based on player reports, it may be possible to unlock it even sooner by resting on the bench just southwest of the Bell Beast (west of where you first meet Shakra). To unlock this bench, head west from the Bell Beast and drop down after passing the Pilgrims, then head straight to the right in the room below.
Note that it’s still quite handy to defeat the Bell Beast first, as this will unlock the fast travel system and allow you to easily move between the quest pickup location and the best area to complete the objective.
‘Garb of the Pilgrims’ quest walkthrough in Hollow Knight: Silksong
To complete “Garb of the Pilgrims,” you must collect 12 Pilgrim Shawls from any kind of Pilgrim in Pharloom. Pilgrims are the more sentient, slightly larger enemies that drop rosaries upon defeat, such as the poison-spewing snail, the jumping bug that tries to hug you, and the jumping-and-rolling bug. After picking up this quest, they will drop the Pilgrim Shawls upon defeat.
You will find Pilgrims in many places around Pharloom, but a great way to complete “Garb of the Pilgrims” quickly is to travel to The Marrow, close to the Bell Beast’s boss lair, and defeat the Pilgrims west of that area. Use the resting bench location as shown earlier in this guide to respawn the Pilgrims and collect their Pilgrim Shawls again.
You can use the fast travel system in Bone Bottom to get there, or walk east into The Marrow and jump upwards in the large room with the disappearing platforms, then exit to the top left. Continue walking to the west, past Shakra’s (former) location and past the resting bench, and slay the pilgrims in the room to the left.
Once you’ve got 12 Pilgrim Shawls, return to the quest board in Bone Bottom to complete “Garb of the Pilgrims.”
‘Garb of the Pilgrims’ quest reward in Hollow Knight: Silksong
As a reward for completing “Garb of the Pilgrims” in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you will receive a Rosary Necklace containing 120 rosary beads. If you select the item in your inventory and “break” it, you will receive the 120 rosaries to spend in a shop, but don’t be hasty; loose rosaries are lost upon defeat, whereas the Rosary Necklace stays put, so it’s best to keep the necklace until you’re ready to purchase an item.
