7 October 20256 Mins Read

Taylor Swift may be the only child in the spotlight from her family, but she’s not an only child. Taylor Swift’s brother Austin Swift is often hanging around his famous big sis, whether it’s at awards shows or Kansas City Chiefs games.

There’s a lot more to Austin than just being Taylor’s brother, though. Get to know the Swift family’s second born!

Does Taylor Swift have brothers?

Yep! Taylor Swift has one brother, Austin Swift.

Austin was born to Andrea Swift and Scott Swift on March 11, 1992, making Taylor (famously born Dec. 13, 1989) two years older and three months than he is.

Does Taylor Swift have two siblings?

Though Taylor has a lot of friends she basically considers sisters, she only has one actual sibling: younger brother Austin.

Taylor and Austin are super tight, and they’ve basically been that way since birth.

Swift made it clear that she adores Austin when she sang “God smiles on my little brother / Inside and out he’s better than I am” on “The Best Day” from her 2008 mainstream breakout album Fearless.

In 2016, at the height of #SnakeGate, he shared a video on Instagram throwing a pair of Yeezys in the trash in support of his sister in her long-standing beef with Kanye West.

He praised Taylor in a 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, saying of his older sister, “Something I learned myself, and learned through watching her, is respect. You just respect everyone’s time, everyone that you’re working with. They’re all there, it’s all their lives, and you need to put the work in to be worth that.”

The same year, he supported her in court in her civil lawsuit against DJ David Mueller, who she accused of sexual battery after he allegedly groped her without her consent.

Austin Swift, Taylor Swift’s brother, leaves the courthouse following the verdict of the civil case of Taylor Swift vs. David Mueller at the Alfred A. Arraj Courthouse on Aug. 14, 2017, in Denver, Colorado. The jury ruled in favor of Taylor Swift with David Mueller required to pay a symbolic $1 in damages.

In 2018, he honored Taylor for her birthday with a sentimental throwback photo and one of the sweetest sibling messages possibly ever. (It appears a way with words might be a family trait!)

“It is a singularly beautiful thing to see magic right in front of your eyes. After nearly three decades of that happening time and time again, the effect hasn’t worn off,” he wrote. “I have always had a best friend, a role model and a caring, tireless, dedicated champion in my corner. You have pulled me out of fires and carried me up mountains. The gift of getting to witness you become the wonderful person you are today has been the greatest privilege and honor of my life. Happy 29th birthday @taylorswift.”

He also hyped his sister up in December 2020 when she released evermore.

“As a brother and friend I couldn’t be more proud, as a lifelong fan I am thrilled beyond words, as a human being I am simply dumbfounded at this level of artistry and depth of insight into what it is to love and to lose and to simply exist,” he captioned an Instagram of the album cover. “Now please stop reading this and go listen to evermore by @taylorswift !!!!!”

He was spotted among her entourage at the Super Bowl in 2025 and in a suite at the Sept. 28, 2025 Chiefs match-up against the Baltimore Ravens, and Taylor revealed in August 2025 that Austin and their mom were both crucial in helping her buy back the masters.

“I wanted to buy my music outright. It was a long shot,” she told now-fiance Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce on New Heights. “Rather than send lawyers or management, I sent my mom and my brother, who I work with, to L.A. They sat down with [the owners], Shamrock Capital, and told them what this meant to me. They told them the whole story.”

What does Taylor Swift’s brother Austin Swift do for a living?

Austin took his time to find his calling.

“She found singing, and I knew from very early on that that was her direction,” he told Vanity Fair. “She was never going to quit; that was her thing, that was her life … and I was always a little bit, you know, doing this, doing that.”

His calling ended up being in entertainment, but not in music. Instead, he works as an actor and producer.
