If you’re planning to take the TTC this weekend or next week, listen up! Between subway closures, rerouted buses, and a couple of big downtown events, there’s a lot happening in Toronto this weekend.
Iconic rock band Metallica are performing at the Rogers Centre on Saturday, April 26, as part of their M72 World Tour. They will be supported by Limp Bizkit, with acts set to begin around 6 p.m. A large crowd will be anticipated at the shows, affecting how busy TTC services are.
What’s more, the Toronto Maple Leafs — who are 3-0 up in their first round Eastern Conference NHL playoff series against the Ottawa Senators courtesy of a Simon Benoit overtime winner on Thursday night — will play Game 4 in the nation’s capital on Saturday at 7 p.m.
This means Toronto bars and restaurants are sure to be busy with Leafs fans, who will be hoping to see their team complete the sweep in the first Battle of Ontario series since 2004. There may even be the odd Sens fan who will be hoping for the start of a miracle!
All of this to say, prepare for a busy Saturday on Toronto’s public transit, especially during the evening.
There will also be detours in place on Sunday because of the annual Toronto Bumrun and Khalsa Day Parade. Torontonians using transit should expect delays.
Here’s the full rundown of this weekends TTC closures so you can avoid getting stuck or delayed, as well as a look into next week.
