Graduate by Hilton has opened its first Texas hotel in Dallas, featuring 93 rooms and a Tex-Mex style restaurant.

Graduate by Hilton has opened its first hotel in Texas, located in Dallas. The new property is situated in Highland Park, directly across from Southern Methodist University (SMU), and offers 93 guest rooms. The hotel includes an outdoor pool, terrace, and flexible event spaces. The property also features a signature restaurant, Los Charros Tex-Mex Smokehouse.

The Dallas location is part of a strategic expansion for Graduate by Hilton, which plans to open another property in Austin. The hotel is a redevelopment of the former Lumen Hotel, led by Nashville-based AJ Capital Partners. The redesign maintains the building’s original mid-century architecture while incorporating Texas-inspired design elements such as leather and velvet furnishings, cowhide ottomans, and handwoven textiles.

The hotel’s public areas are designed to connect with the local community, featuring a large communal table and coffee counter. The lobby includes a vintage postcard of Exall Lake and a reception desk with a mustang motif, reflecting the nearby university’s mascot. Star-shaped pendant lights and native plants are also part of the decor.

Los Charros Tex-Mex Smokehouse, the hotel’s restaurant, combines Tex-Mex and Texas barbecue traditions. The dining area features reclaimed wood, corrugated steel, and a ceiling mural inspired by hand-woven rugs. A communal dining table and saddle-style bar stools are included in the design, emphasizing a rustic aesthetic.

Guest rooms incorporate mid-century modern influences with a red, white, and blue color scheme. Design details include grasscloth wallcoverings, navy-striped beds, and locally inspired artwork. Custom ceramic lamps and bluebonnet-upholstered chairs are among the bespoke elements. Original tilework has been preserved in the bathrooms, which also feature horse-print wallpaper.

Graduate Dallas is part of the Hilton Honors program, allowing members to earn points and access benefits such as flexible payment options and free Wi-Fi. The hotel is now open for bookings.
