October is here, which means it’s officially spooky month. While Halloween is still a way off, some video games have already started celebrating, including Fortnite. Fortnitemares has started, which means players have an array of scary skins to check out in the shop, themed quests to complete, fun items to try out, and many, many collaborations to look forward to.
Hollow Knight, Predator, and Hazbin Hotel join Fortnite this month
Multiple collaborations were confirmed in previous Fortnitemares teasers and trailers, such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Obsession. The gameplay trailer took it up a notch and unveiled even more franchises. It seems that Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, and Predator will also be coming to Fortnite later this month.
While there are plenty of collabs this year, there are also original cosmetics. And among them is Jack-A-Nape, a monkey skin coming to Fortnite for free. Players who complete a total of 26 Fortnitemares quests will unlock Jack-A-Nape as a reward.
The Pumpkin Launcher is arguably the most iconic item in Fortnitemares — the sound of the pumpkin launching from the tube is especially nostalgic. Since it’s only around once a year, players should learn how to unlock it right away, so they don’t miss out. This time around, the Pumpkin Launcher isn’t part of the standard loot pool: it won’t drop from chests unless players use Sprite Dust to unlock it in the Loot Hacks menu.
In this update, players will have access to the following loot hacks: Loot Hacker sprite variant, Infantry Rifle, LMG, Pumpkin Launcher, Last Call, and Slap Candy Corn.
Inspired by Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy’s Nightmare is a new melee weapon in Fortnite that players can use to slash their enemies and unleash powerful combos. Combine this item with the 99 Nights in the Forest Deer sprite, which boosts melee attacks, to absolutely shred through enemies. Besides the Deer sprite, gamers will also have to collect the Vampire, Spooky Dash, and Dumpster Dive sprites.
Those looking for chaos and tons of overpowered event weapons should head to Blitz Royale, as the game mode will be filled with familiar items from previous Fortnitemares, like the Witch Broom, as well as new weapons. Blitz isn’t the only interesting mode in this update. As is tradition in October, Horde Rush returns. Similar to Demon Rush, players will now level up by playing Horde Rush and unlock perks to improve their character’s stats. This will help them stay alive longer so they can make it to the final boss and enter endless mode.
As for Battle Royale, be sure to check out the new Halloween-themed POIs, but be careful when you enter Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, as the animatronics are always lurking. If you have what it takes, knock them down so you can possess them to gain extra HP, shields, and a free revive.
Fortnitemares is live until Nov. 1
