Have some frightening fun on Friday the 13th in Calgary with these 5 events

9 June 20253 Mins Read

To the superstitious and the horror-lovers living in Calgary, happy Friday the 13th! While not a real holiday in any sense of the word, this calendar date is radar-worthy due to sharing a name with the iconic 1980 camp slasher film, and because of the long-lasting tale that 13 is an unlucky number.

But just because the date is considered unlucky doesn’t mean your day has to be. There’s plenty of themed fun happening across Calgary on Friday the 13th for anyone looking to show superstition who’s boss.

Plenty of tattoo studios will do special rates on flash pieces for Friday the 13th, and Little Witch Tattoo Inc. is no exception. Enjoy exclusive designs for special prices on a first-come, first-served basis, because nothing says “happy Friday” like fresh ink.

Where: Little Witch Tattoo Inc. — 1031 40th Ave. NW
Time: 10 a.m. to 11:50 p.m.
Admission: Tattoo rates vary

This summer series is taking a dark turn this Friday the 13th. Step into Calgary’s sordid past on a tour that explores ghost stories, murders, executions, and other eerie occurrences of earlier times.

Where: The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland — 750 9th Ave. SE
Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Admission: $20

In partnership with Calgary Horror Con, the Calgary Underground Film Festival is hosting a special 40th anniversary screening of Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning. Plus, special guests who starred in the film will be on-site for a post-movie Q&A.

Where: Globe Cinema — 617 8th Ave. SW
Time: 7 p.m.
Admission: $20

Join the crew behind Calgary Ghost Walks for an evening of frightening tales at the Bankview Community Hall. Tickets are currently sold out, but there’s a waitlist available — just in case anyone gets the last-minute heeby-jeebies.

Where: Bankview Community Hall — 2418 17th St. SW
Time: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

This no-cover party at Regal Beagle Macleod is the place to be. With live music, costume contests, themed food and drinks, and epic prizes, this Summerween celebration is all treat and no trick.

Where: Regal Beagle Macleod — 180 94th Ave. SE
Time: 9 p.m.
Admission: Free
