HBO Max's Long-Awaited 'Conjuring' Series Receives Terrifying New Update

9 September 20252 Mins Read

While most viewers might think they’ve seen the last of The Conjuring Universe with the latest franchise release The Conjuring: Last Rites, the long-running horror series will soon expand into the realm of television with its upcoming TV adaptation.

More recently, Variety confirmed that Nancy Won has joined the long-awaited HBO Max series as a writer, executive producer and showrunner for The Conjuring TV show.

Not only that, but both Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires have both signed on as writers for the highly anticipated new horror series.

The news comes as The Conjuring: Last Rites continues its successful track record at the box office, all the while earning mostly positive reviews from fans and critics of the beloved horror franchise.

Though it was originally announced in 2023, The Conjuring series has experienced relatively slow development in terms of tangible updates in terms of its early production.

However, with Won, Cameron and Squires joining the series, The Conjuring‘s HBO Max counterpart seems to be officially back on track.

Details about the plot, casting or release date of the series have been kept tightly under wraps, but Variety has reported that the new series will continue the underlying story previously introduced in the original Conjuring movies.

In addition to Won, Peter Safran will similarly serve as an executive producer, with James Wan’s Atomic Monster studio set to produce the show.

As longtime fans of the series likely know, The Conjuring series spans a total of nine different movies, beginning with 2013’s The Conjuring and including the likes of the Annabelle and The Nun spinoff films.

Right now, the fourth and seemingly final entry in the mainline Conjuring series is playing theaters across the nation, featuring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s paranormal investigators as they confront their most sinister haunted house yet.
