The late Heath Ledger‘s only child, Matilda Ledger, is her father’s twin in the latest sighting of the 19-year-old as she enjoyed life in New York City.
Matilda was seen in NYC last week wearing red Mary Jane flats, a mid-length denim skirt, a black tank top and a blue and white striped sweater as she ran errands around town. She took a bike ride and relaxed at a cafe, while she later changed into a gray zip-up sweatshirt as she dragged some luggage behind her.

The teenager is the spitting image of her late father, who died in 2008. Matilda’s mother is actress Michelle Williams, who dated Ledger for a few years before his death. The former couple met on the set of Brokeback Mountain and sparked a romance, welcoming Matilda in 2005. They split in 2007, not long before Ledger died.
Matilda Tends to Stay Out of the Spotlight
Matilda generally stays out of the spotlight, which is why seeing the teenager out and about is a rare occurrence. She was last spotted walking in Brooklyn with a friend in January.
In the photos, Matilda seemed happy and at ease, showing off her casual fashion style. She appeared to be wearing shoes quite similar to the red flats she wore in the new photos, although they are not the same shoes.

Williams Shared How “Special” Ledger Was in a Recent Interview
Williams made a rare comment about Ledger and their relationship during a guest appearance on Dax Shepard‘s Armchair Expert podcast earlier this year.
She said of the start of their relationship, “I feel obligated to say that I knew him a little bit when he was getting sober, and I don’t know that I’ve ever fallen in love with somebody so quickly.”
“This is one of the most special boys I’ve ever met, and I can feel the weight of the world on him in a very special way that kind of broke my heart. I was very, very sad, and I thought he was just so special,” she went on, praising the late actor, before adding of her daughter, “Thank god there’s Matilda.”
Matilda Has 3 Half Siblings
While Williams went on to have other relationships in the years after her split from Ledger, she eventually met Thomas Kail, and the two married in 2020. They reportedly met on the set of Fosse/Verdon.
The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Hart, in 2020. While Kail and Williams have remained mum on details, they welcomed a second child in 2022 and a third child via surrogate in 2025.
