Although it’s still January, Stampede season is only six months away — which means it’s time to start planning for those who celebrate.
Luckily, Calgary locals took to Reddit recently to share their top spots in the city to buy cowboy boots. For a town that loves our western wear, we sure know how to pick ’em.
Although affordability is a consideration, most users agree that “Good boots won’t be cheap and cheap boots won’t be good.” It’s best to invest in a quality pair — one that will last you more than one rodeo.
There’s something for every budget in these recommendations, and whether you’re a full-on rodeo queen or just want to live it up on the grounds this year, these spots will keep you two-stepping all the way into summer.
Multiple users recommended Alberta Boot as a top, albeit pricey, spot to snag a pair of quality cowboy boots. They offer handcrafted gems made by experts who take great care and pride in crafting premium western wear that lasts.
“Head over to Irvine’s and pick up a pair of Ariats if you’re on a budget,” recommended one user. Irvine’s is family-owned and operated, and with more than two decades in the biz, they’ll know how to set you on the right track. They’re also known as Canada’s largest western store — and with that kind of cred, you know they’ll have some juicy leather in stock.
“If you are looking for quality and comfort, getting a real pair from Lammle’s is always a great idea,” noted one user. With five convenient locations in and around the city, this beloved Canadian chain is Old Faithful.
“Cody & Sioux in Inglewood also sells absolutely gorgeous boots, but they can get quite pricey,” suggested a user. “In previous years, they did have a little thrift section in their basement, and sometimes you can lucky with finding used boots there.” This boutique western wear shop in Inglewood has some truly gorgeous pieces, and you’ll find everything you need to become queen of the rodeo at this lovely shop.

“If you’re on a strict budget, you should look second-hand,” recommended another user. “I cannot fathom how a company can make cowboy boots for under $60.” Fair enough, and as a city with a slogan like “yahoo,” you know there are bound to be a used quality pair or two in thrift stores around town.
“Facebook marketplace always has cowboy boots for sale,” posted another user to the Reddit thread. With such an abundance of options, you’ll definitely be able to snag a faithful pair of boots for any budget. Best of luck, cowboys!
