Here’s how Calgary is celebrating Canada Day this year

Ready for another long sunny weekend? Calgary will soon celebrate Canada Day once again, and this year, they’ve got big plans.

Canada Day in Calgary

On July 1, Canada will commemorate another year around the sun, and Calgary is going to celebrate with a whole lot more than cake.

From live music and crafts to cultural showcases, there’s going to be a little something for everyone, but you’ll want to plan ahead.

Ready to pencil in a few things? Here’s what’s going on in and around the city.

The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland

Main Stage Show

Featuring Lu Kala, Aysanabee, and headliner Sam Roberts Band, Calgary’s main stage show should not be missed. At 3:20 p.m., head to The Confluence Historic Site and enjoy the show for free.

When: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Time: 3:20 p.m.
Where: 750 9th Ave. SE, Calgary
Admission: Free

Indigenous Spotlight and Powwow

Located in Calgary’s inner city, The Confluence is a historical site where you can immerse yourself in stories about Indigenous culture and learn about the arrival of the North West Mounted Police, as well as Calgary’s inception.

This Canada Day, the incredible destination will host a powwow, an Indigenous Market, and a cultural carousel with interactive activities.

There will also be food vendors and a Coke Canada Rest and Refresh area.

When: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: 750 9th Ave. SE, Calgary
Admission: Free

Fireworks

While the fireworks will be launched from Stampede Park, the Confluence will have the very best view of the show. Grab a spot, cozy in and look up at 11 p.m.

With three stages with live music, face painting, and food vendors, Calgarians are encouraged to check out St. Patrick’s Island for a picnic or a walk. Enjoy!

Authentic attire, a photo booth and more. This year, the Municipal Building will host a Cultural Carousel with a spotlight on cultural clothing. Check it out and see a variety of bright colours and beautiful fabrics.

Admission: Free

Beer gardens and a street fair? Those who are interested in spending a day shopping in the sun, having a few cold ones, and eating grub from local food trucks can head to the East Village with some good company, comfortable shoes, and some sunscreen.

Admission: Free

Free admission? This year, celebrate Canada Day at the National Music Centre and explore the country’s musical mosaic through fun activities, performances, and, of course, the exhibits.
