The 2025 Easter weekend is almost here and if you’re in The 6ix, you’ll probably be wondering what’s open and closed in Toronto on Good Friday, Easter Monday and across the rest of the long weekend. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!
If you are planning on buying groceries, going to the liquor store, or clothes shopping, you’ll need to be mindful that on Easter weekend, some stores either have limited opening hours or don’t open at all.
This year, Easter long weekend falls on April 18-21, and as you probably know, Good Friday is a statutory holiday in Ontario, but Easter Monday isn’t.
This means most places will be closed on April 18 (Good Friday) in Toronto — including schools, government offices, banks and a lot of major stores.
Easter Monday isn’t a statutory holiday in most of Canada — but it is recognized by the federal government. So, if you work in a federally regulated industry, such as banking, telecommunications, Canada Post or anything under the Government of Canada, you’ll probably be off on Monday, April 21, too.
To help you plan your long weekend, we’ve done the digging for you and rounded up the opening hours (and closing times) for some of Toronto’s most popular locations — including where to go for groceries or liquor on Good Friday — in case you need to grab something last minute.
