The start of summer is almost here, as the Victoria Day long weekend is upon us.
If you live in the GTA, you’ll probably be wondering what’s open and closed in Toronto on Monday, but don’t stress — we have you covered.
Whether you’re planning on buying groceries, going to the liquor store, or retail shopping, you’ll need to be aware that on the Victoria Day weekend, some stores either have limited opening hours or don’t open.
Victoria Day is on Monday, May 19, 2025, and it’s a statutory holiday in Ontario.
In Toronto, most places will be closed on Monday, including schools, government offices, banks, and many major stores.
Victoria Day is also a federal holiday in Canada. If you work in a federally regulated job like banking, telecommunications, or with the Government of Canada, you’re off on May 19 as well.
To help you plan your long weekend, here’s what you need to know about what stores, attractions, and malls are open and closed in Toronto.
Grocery stores
- Aisle 24: All locations of this cashierless grocery chain are open 24/7, all year round. You need to download the app and create a profile to unlock the door.
- Costco: All Costco warehouses in Toronto will be closed.
- Farm Boy: All Toronto stores are closed, except for the following locations:
- Farm Boy College and Bay: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Farm Boy Sugar Wharf: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Farm Boy St. Clair: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Farm Boy Harbourfront: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Farm Boy Yonge and Silvermaple: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Farm Boy Aurora: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Farm Boy Newmarket: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Farm Boy Rideau: 10 am to 6 pm
- Farm Boy Kingston: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Farm Boy Bronte: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Farm Boy Port Credit: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Loblaws & affiliates: Most Loblaws, No Frills, Your Independent Grocer, Real Canadian Superstore, Fortinos, and Valu-mart stores will be closed on Victoria Day, while the Loblaws at 60 Carlton St. will be open. No Frills locations across Toronto will be closed on Victoria Day.
- Metro & affiliates: Most Metro and Food Basics stores will be closed on Victoria Day. However, some stores will have modified hours. The Metro College Park at 444 Yonge St. will be open on Victoria Day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Rabba: Open 24/7, 365 days of the year.
- Longo’s: Select locations will be open.
- Sobeys & affiliates: Most Sobeys, FreshCo, Foodland, IGA, and Marchés Tradition stores in Toronto will be closed on Victoria Day.
- Walmart: All Toronto stores will be closed on Victoria Day, except the Rexdale store, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday.
- Whole Foods: Most stores across Toronto will be closed on Victoria Day. The Yorkville outlet will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.
- Summerhill Market: All Toronto stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Victoria Day.
- Eataly: All of Toronto’s Eataly locations will be open.
Liquor stores
- LCBO: All LCBO stores will be closed on Victoria Day.
- The Beer Store: 82 store locations will be open on Victoria Day. Most will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, there’ll be some exceptions.
- Wine Rack: Many Wine Rack stores in Toronto will be open on Victoria Day.
Shopping centres
- Toronto Eaton Centre: Will be open on Victoria Day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Scarborough Town Centre: Will be closed on Victoria Day.
- Yorkdale Shopping Centre: Will be closed on Victoria Day. However, some individual stores are open.
- Fairview Mall: Will be closed on Victoria Day.
- Sherway Gardens: Will be closed on Victoria Day.
- Promenade Shopping Centre: Will be open on Victoria Day from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
- Toronto Premium Outlets: Will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Victoria Day.
- Pacific Mall (Markham): Open 365 days of the year.
- Square One (Mississauga): Open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday
- Bramalea City Centre (Brampton): Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Erin Mills Town Centre (Mississauga): Will be closed on Victoria Day.
Services
- TTC: The TTC will operate on a holiday schedule on Victoria Day, with service starting around 6 a.m. and ending at 2 a.m.
- GO Transit: GO Transit will run a Saturday schedule on Victoria Day.
- Community centres: All community recreation facilities will be closed on Victoria Day.
- Banks: Banks are closed on most federal and statutory holidays.
- Canada Post: Closed on Victoria Day.
- Service Canada: Locations are closed on Victoria Day.
- ServiceOntario: Locations are closed on Victoria Day. However, some ServiceOntario services can be done online.
- Inquiry and payment counters: Services at Toronto City Hall, East York Civic Centre, Etobicoke Civic Centre, North York Civic Centre, Scarborough Civic Centre and York Civic Centre are closed on Victoria Day.
- Garbage collection and recycling: Drop-off depots and transfer stations will be closed on Victoria Day. On Monday, a regular collection service will be available for daytime and nighttime residential and commercial customers.
Things to do
- Ashbridges Bay Park: Fireworks will start at 10 p.m. at Ashbridges Bay Park.
- CN Tower: Open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Toronto Zoo: Open 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Ripley’s: Open 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Royal Ontario Museum: The ROM is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- St. Lawrence Market: Closed on Victoria Day.
- Toronto Island Park: The 2025 summer schedule for ferries to Toronto Island Park starts Friday, May 16.
- Riverdale Farm: Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is free.
- High Park Animal Display: Open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Roads in the park are closed to vehicular traffic on weekends and public holidays, but several TTC routes connect to High Park.
- Toronto History Museums: Fort York National Historic Site is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information on other branches can be found here.
- Golf course: All five City of Toronto golf courses will be open throughout the long weekend. Tee times can be booked online.
- Conservatories: The Centennial Park Conservatory and the Allan Gardens Conservatory are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
- Cultural centres and art galleries: Assembly Hall and the Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Galleries (Main Gallery and Ascent Gallery) will be closed on Victoria Day. The Clark Centre for the Arts and Cedar Ridge Creative Centre will also be closed.
