Here’s what’s opened and closed for Labour Day in Calgary

26 August 20252 Mins Read

Summer might be nearing its end (say it ain’t so!), but the Labour Day weekend is coming up. It’ll be a chance for one last hurrah before we close out the summer of ’25 forever.

This summer has been one for the books, with cultural celebrations, a new downtown plaza and one of the biggest Stampedes ever. But the party won’t stop until Labour Day walks into our calendar and the sunshine makes way for autumn chill and falling leaves.

There’s plenty to do in and around Calgary this Labour Day, but you should know what’s open and closed before you plan your long weekend. From public services to shops and stores, here’s what’s open for business this Monday, Sept. 1 holiday in Calgary.

Open

  • Calgary Zoo/Wilder Institute
  • Heritage Park
  • Telus Spark Science Centre
  • Calgary transit (holiday service schedule)
  • Calgary Tower
  • CF Chinook Centre
  • CF Market Mall
  • The CORE Shopping Centre
  • CrossIron Mills
  • Southcentre Mall
  • Olympic Oval
  • Village Square Leisure Centre
  • Southland Leisure Centre
  • Cineplex
  • Landmark Cinemas
  • Canyon Meadows Cinemas

Closed

  • Calgary public library branches
  • Mail delivery services
  • Government services
  • Banks
  • Most retail stores

Enjoy your Labour Day, Calgary!
