Here’s where you can capture the perfect spring photo in Calgary

9 May 20253 Mins Read

The weather is warming up, which means it’s time to bust out that spring wardrobe and snag some fresh pics for your social media feed. If you’re looking for places to snap spring photos around Calgary, we’ve put together a list of our favourites.

Here are 11 spots around YYC that are simply perfect for capturing spring in our city.

McHugh Bluff Stairs

This lovely lookout serves sweeping views of the city skyline framed by lush trees. It’s also a pretty good place to get your steps in with all those stairs.

Where: Memorial Drive NW and 3rd Street NW

Scotsman Hill

Scotsman Hill offers a different perspective of downtown. Located in Ramsay, this sweet little hillside is great for spotting iconic landmarks among the Calgary skyline.

Where: Near ENMAX Park

Peace Bridge

It’s a classic for a reason. If you want to sprinkle some modernity between spring nature shots, you can’t go wrong with a dramatic photo of Calgary’s iconic red bridge over the Bow River.

Where: Off Memorial Drive NW

Galleria Trees on Stephen Avenue

If you’re downtown, make sure you get a skyward shot of these modern marvels on Stephen Avenue. These abstract art pieces are not only pretty, but serve a practical function by mitigating the winds that pass through this breezy corridor.

Where: 8th Avenue SW

Wonderland Sculpture

As you wander around the downtown core, make sure you stop in front of The Bow and get a shot with the Wonderland Sculpture. This bent wire statue is shaped like a young girl’s head and is nearly 12 meters tall.

Where: 110 6th Ave. SE

Inglewood

You really can’t miss with a photo taken in Inglewood. Calgary’s oldest neighbourhood is home to countless historic buildings with beautiful architecture and old-world charm.

Where: Downtown SE

Lougheed House

If historical buildings are your thing, then visit the Lougheed House in Beltline. Built back in 1891, this home looks straight out of a Victorian storybook. The adjacent gardens are also perfect for spotting spring flowers.

Where: 707 13th Ave. SW

Central Memorial Park

Speaking of old things, did you know we have formal European gardens at home? Calgary’s oldest park can be found in the heart of downtown, with lovely walking paths and meticulously curated flower beds. Bridgerton cosplay, anyone?

Where: 12th Avenur and 2nd Street SW

Fish Creek

Coming back to nature, you can lose yourself in the wilderness without straying too far from the city. Fish Creek Park has dreamy tree-lined pathways and the iconic Bow Valley Ranche restaurant. The building was designated a provincial historic resource in 2001.

Where: Fish Creek Provincial Park

The Rundle Ruins

Roman ruins, these are not, but they’re still pretty cool! Get the perfect shot in front of the remains of Calgary’s Second General Hospital, built back in 1899. Opt for black and white if you’re feed reads more tortured-artist.

Where: 631 12 Ave. SE

Prince’s Island Park

Enjoy a serene walk along the river and stop for some quick photos at this downtown Calgary Park. You can find everything from grassy knolls, rocky river outcrops, and downtown skyline shots here. Work smarter, not harder, right?

Where: 698 Eau Claire Ave. SW
