Here’s where you can go rock climbing for free in Edmonton this week

24 August 20263 Mins Read

Free Climb Day is coming to Edmonton this week, and three popular climbing gyms in the area will be offering free admission. With free equipment rentals and no membership needed, here’s what to know.

Before the end of August, Rock Jungle Climbing will be offering free rock climbing at all three of its Edmonton locations (Factory, Boulders, and Niche) all day long.

What to know about Free Climb Day

When is Free Climb Day?

Free Climb Day will be taking over Edmonton all day on Friday, Aug. 28.

Where is free rock climbing being offered?

All of Rock Jungle Climbing’s locations in Edmonton will be participating in this event:

Is there parking available at these locations?

All of these gyms offer free parking. Factory offers parking around the building, Boulders has several lots and city parking (with vehicle registration inside), and Niche provides a large lot with additional street parking.

What does Free Climb Day include?

This one-day event includes free admission and free rentals as well.

Is a membership needed?

Those participating in this promotion do not need a membership.

Do I need a reservation?

You do not need a reservation for individual climbing or smaller groups, as drop-ins are welcome during open hours. However, for groups of eight or more, advanced booking is required to ensure the best experience.

Do I have to sign a waiver?

Yes, a waiver is required for entry. It’s recommended to fill it out ahead of time for a streamlined experience, and you’ll be able to find it online on Rock Jungle Climbing’s website.

Do I need to wear or bring anything?

The only thing recommended by the gym is to wear comfortable activewear and bring a water bottle. Everything else will be provided.

Is there a minimum age for climbing?

Those climbing must be at least five years old, and those between five and 14 must have an adult supervising them. There are specific areas within the gym (like the fitness zones and Kilter boards) that are restricted to those 16 and up.
