While HGTV said goodbye to a number of beloved series over the past year (still not over the cancellation of Married to Real Estate), it’s also welcoming a new crop of shows to its lineup. We’ve already been treated to a couple episodes of Bachelor Mansion Takeover, and now HGTV has set a premiere date for its hotly anticipated new series Tropic Like It’s Hot.
The show follows buyers as they look for their dream homes in…you guessed it—the tropics. Think along the lines of part House Hunters International, part Beachfront Bargain Hunt (but with bigger budgets) and part Divided by Design. Because in each episode, it’s a romantic couple that is choosing to move to a tropical location together and into their forever home. No pressure or anything.

Tropic Like It’s Hot will premiere on HGTV with two back-to-back episodes on Monday, April 6 at 10 and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. Each episode features a couple paired with a real estate agent local to the tropical hideaway in which they want to buy a home. Viewers will be treated to their tours of these stunning properties, all while getting up-close-and-personal as these folks navigate their relationship, relocating to an unfamiliar place and making a massive home purchase all at the same time.

The first season of Tropic Like It’s Hot will have 16 episodes, so you’ll have plenty of time to get cozy with the show’s concept.

Which Locations Will ‘Tropic Like It’s Hot’ Visit?
If it’s tropical (and hot), you can bet your bottom dollar the series will head there. In the first episode airing at 10 p.m. on April 6, a couple heads to Tulum, Mexico to find a gorgeous property that fits their wants and needs. Meanwhile, in the second episode airing at 10:30 p.m., a very newly established couple (as in they’ve been together for all of a week) will search for a home in Jacó, Costa Rica. It all feels very high stakes and, frankly, we are here for all of it.
At the end of March you can escape to Hawaii via HGTV when Renovation Aloha returns with amazing husband-and-wife team Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama. But if you’re looking for brand new home reno shows to watch right now, then tune into the latest season of 100 Day Dream Home with fan favorites Mika and Brian Kleinschmidt.
