If you’ve ever avoided taking Ontario Highway 407 because of the cost, you might want to rethink your route — at least for March.
Highway 407 ETR is rolling out a special promotion that could save GTA drivers some serious cash during peak commuting hours. Whether you’re a regular user of the toll road or have always opted for free alternatives like the 401, this could be the perfect opportunity to give route 407 a try without worrying about 407 fees.
According to 407 ETR, eligible drivers can take advantage of free travel on Highway 407 all month long, from March 1 to March 31, 2025. The offer applies during weekday rush hours — 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. — but excludes weekends.
The best part? You just need to enter Highway 407 ETR during the eligible time slots for the discount to apply. It doesn’t matter when you exit — as long as you get on the highway within the free travel period, your trip is covered.
The credits will automatically appear on your bill, covering toll charges, trip toll charges, camera charges and any applicable account fees during those time slots. However, transponder lease fees will still apply for those who rent one.
To take advantage of the deal, drivers must have Ontario plates, sign up for a My Account on the 407 ETR website and agree to the My Account and Paperless Agreement before using the highway.
Once enrolled, the promotion will apply to all personal vehicles registered under the account. But heads up — this offer is only available to targeted customers, as determined by 407 ETR, so not everyone may be eligible.
Another key detail: The free travel offer only applies to Highway 407 ETR between the QEW in Burlington and Brock Road in Pickering. It doesn’t include Highway 407 East, which is the provincially owned extension of the highway.
Heavy vehicle transponders also aren’t eligible for the promotion, so this one’s strictly for personal vehicles.
