Amora Hotels & Resorts, a family-run hospitality group, has successfully purchased the Hilton Adelaide. This comes after an open-market campaign attracting domestic and international interest from private and institutional investors. This marks the first time the well-known hotel has changed ownership in over three decades.
Michael Simpson, Vasso Zographou, Tom Gibson, and Nick Hill from CBRE Hotels brokered the sale on behalf of the vendor, 233 Victoria Square Hotel Pty Ltd. Amora Hotels & Resorts is known for operating high-quality hotel properties in Australia and Thailand, including the lauded Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney.
Earp Siriphatrawan, the owner of Amora Hotels & Resorts, expressed satisfaction with the acquisition. He noted that it marked an important step in the company’s expansion strategy. The company aims to establish a strong presence in strategic Australian cities while providing top-notch hospitality experiences. Siriphatrawan highlighted Adelaide’s dynamic tourism and business sectors as exciting growth avenues. He believes this new addition will bring great value to their guests, stakeholders, and the wider Amora community.
The Hilton Adelaide is a famed hotel centrally located at 233 Victoria Square, within the city’s entertainment, dining, shopping, and business districts. The five-star hotel is near attractions such as the Adelaide Central Market, Chinatown, and the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.
Michael Simpson from CBRE commented on the sale, noting the significance of acquiring a flagship five-star asset in one of Australia’s burgeoning markets. He pointed out that the market has been bolstered by several public and private infrastructure projects, including the recently completed $2.3 billion Royal Adelaide Hospital, the $500 million Australian Bragg Centre, and the $450 million Central Market redevelopment. More projects, including government-funded innovation districts and defense projects, are expected to boost corporate and event demand further.
The Hilton Adelaide is situated on a 3,556 sqm site and boasts 377 guest rooms, 20 conference and meeting rooms, a business lounge, a tennis court, a gym, and a swimming pool. The hotel also offers high-quality food and beverages at the COAL Cellar + Grill and The Collins Bar. Hilton Hotels of Australia Pty Ltd currently manages the property.
