In Brief: Hilton has appointed Jon Gersonde as managing director of Grand Wailea Maui, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, placing him in charge of overseeing all operations at the flagship luxury property in Hawaii.

Gersonde will oversee all departments at the Grand Wailea Maui, including financial and commercial performance, team development, Hawaiian culture and sustainability commitments, and guest experience.
He most recently served as general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua. Before that, he was vice president and managing director at Turtle Bay Resort on Oʻahu.
His previous executive roles included vice president of operations, managing director and general manager positions at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, The Royal Hawaiian, Kapalua Bay Hotel and The Westin Maui.
As managing director, Gersonde will lead the resort’s operations across its 795 rooms, including 58 suites, and 50 luxury villas at Hoʻolei.
The property also includes Kilolani Spa & Salon and five dining venues, including Nobu, described as the island’s first Nobu; seafood and steak restaurant Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa; Italian dining outlet Olivine; and Botero Lounge.
