Hilton has opened its first Canopy by Hilton hotel in South Africa, located in Cape Town’s Longkloof area, featuring 154 rooms and a new restaurant by chef Bertus Basson.

Hilton has announced the opening of its first Canopy by Hilton hotel in South Africa, located in Cape Town’s Longkloof district. The hotel, named Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof, features 154 guest rooms and introduces a new dining venue, Ongetem, led by South African chef Bertus Basson.

The hotel is situated in the City Bowl area of Cape Town, approximately 10 minutes from Table Mountain and 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. It is also close to the Cape Town International Convention Centre and popular local attractions such as Camps Bay, Clifton beaches, Signal Hill, the Museum Precinct, and the V&A Waterfront.

Ongetem, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, offers a menu that combines local flavors with modern culinary techniques. The restaurant’s “Butcher, Baker, Cocktail Maker” concept emphasizes flame-grilled meats, fresh pastries, and cocktails made with local botanicals. The venue is designed to serve as a gathering place for locals and hotel guests.

The hotel’s design incorporates elements reflective of the Longkloof neighborhood. Public spaces feature natural lighting and local art. The 154 rooms have a canopy above each bed adorned with South African prints and include artisan-crafted furnishings.

The opening of Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof adds to Hilton’s presence in South Africa, which includes existing properties such as Hilton Durban and DoubleTree by Hilton Cape Town – Upper Eastside. Hilton also has three additional hotels under development in the country.

This new hotel is part of Hilton Honors guest loyalty program. Members who book directly through Hilton channels can access benefits such as flexible payment options, exclusive discounts, and free standard Wi-Fi. The Hilton Honors app allows members to check in, choose their room, and access it using a digital key.

For more information or to make a reservation, travelers can visit the hotel’s website.
