Hilton to Rebrand Hotel Gajoen Tokyo as LXR Hotels & Resorts by 2027

Hilton will rebrand the iconic Hotel Gajoen in Meguro, Tokyo, as an LXR Hotels & Resorts property, with an official launch scheduled by 2027. The property, owned by Brookfield and managed by Hilton, will be the first LXR Hotels & Resorts hotel in Tokyo and the second in Japan, following ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts. Hilton has additional luxury properties planned for Hiroshima and Niseko, Hokkaido.

Located near Meguro Station and close to Tokyo’s cultural and commercial districts, the 60-key hotel will feature guest rooms, including suites of more than 100 square meters, five dining destinations, a spa, a fitness center, and approximately 5,700 square meters of meeting and event space. The property houses Hyakudan Kaidan, or the Hundred-Step Staircase, the only remaining wooden structure within the hotel and a designated Tangible Cultural Property by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Hotel Gajoen will resume operations for its rooms and restaurants in mid-2026, following a phased program of enhancements to its facilities and guest rooms. The rebranding will incorporate the property’s nearly 100 years of heritage and Japanese artistry.

The hotel’s location in Meguro places it near the Meguro River, lined with approximately 800 cherry trees. The LXR Hotels & Resorts brand currently has nearly 40 properties in operation and in the pipeline globally.
