Breakwater has partnered with BR Investments to acquire and renovate the Ramada Hotel in downtown Augusta, Georgia, originally designed by architect I.M. Pei.

Breakwater, in collaboration with BR Investments, has acquired the Ramada Hotel located in downtown Augusta, Georgia. The property, originally opened in 1974 as the Executive House Hotel and rebranded under Ramada in 1999, is one of only two hotels in the United States designed by architect I.M. Pei.

The renovation will involve a comprehensive transformation of the 175-room hotel. Breakwater has engaged The Gettys Group to manage the branding and interior design, while Rabun Architects will oversee the architectural aspects of the project. The renovation aims to restore the hotel and rebrand it as a soft-branded property.

In addition to the structural and design changes, Breakwater has enlisted a Charleston-based restaurateur to develop the hotel’s food and beverage program. The company has also leased adjacent street-level and courtyard spaces across Broad Street to enhance the guest experience and integrate the hotel with the surrounding area.

The project is part of a broader effort to revitalize the east end of Broad Street in Augusta, with plans to create vibrant public spaces and host engaging events. The renovation aims to attract both locals and visitors to the area, contributing to the economic development of downtown Augusta.

Details regarding the timeline for the renovation and rebranding have not been disclosed.
