The Winnedumah Hotel, located in Independence, California, is scheduled to reopen in September 2025. The reopening coincides with the hotel’s 100th anniversary. Originally constructed in 1925, the hotel has undergone a restoration to preserve its historic architecture while updating its facilities.
The hotel will offer 24 rooms, comprising 21 standard queen rooms and three suites. The property features a Grand Lobby with 16-foot ceilings and a native stone fireplace. Additional amenities include an outdoor patio with views of Mount Williamson, a dining room that serves as a flexible meeting space, and a curated retail selection. The hotel will provide complimentary coffee and a limited food and beverage program, which includes local offerings such as regional wines and beers.
The restoration project has focused on maintaining the hotel’s original character. Several original furnishings, including writing desks and chairs, have been refinished. The hotel’s central courtyard provides views of the Sierra Nevada, and the façade faces the White Mountains.
The Winnedumah Hotel is situated along Highway 395, making it accessible for travelers visiting the Eastern Sierra region, including destinations like Mount Whitney and Mammoth Lakes. The hotel aims to offer a blend of historic charm and modern design elements.
