Frontmezzjunkies reports: House of McQueen Comes to Off-Broadway

By Ross

I’ve been eagerly awaiting this moment, and now House of McQueen is officially in previews at The Mansion at Hudson Yards. After a decade in the making, this play promises to take audiences on an immersive journey into the life and brilliance of the legendary fashion icon Lee Alexander McQueen. From his humble beginnings in working-class Britain to becoming a global sensation, the show explores the relationships that shaped him and the innovative artistry that revolutionized the fashion world.

Luke Newton

Penned by award-winning playwright Darrah Cloud (Our Suburb) and directed by Sam Helfrich (ART/NY’s In a Dark Dark House), House of McQueen offers a deeply personal and authentic look at a man whose creative genius broke boundaries. “Bridgerton” star Luke Newton portrays McQueen through September 28, bringing to life his rise from Savile Row apprenticeship to helming Givenchy and launching his own groundbreaking label. The play also delves into McQueen’s complex relationships with key figures like Isabella Blow, played by Tony-nominated actress Emily Skinner (Broadway’s Prince of Broadway), and his mother, Joyce McQueen, portrayed by Catherine LeFrere (“Only Murders in the Building“). This promises to be a compelling theatrical experience that celebrates a true rockstar of the fashion industry.
