How Did Spencer Lofranco Die? What We Know About the Actor’s Untimely Death

20 November 20253 Mins Read

Rest in peace. Spencer Lofranco, best known for his roles in Gotti, Jamesy Boy, and Unbroken, has died. He was 33 years old.

“To the legend @roccowinning. My brother. You lived a life only some could dream of. You changed people’s lives, and now you are with God. I will always love you and miss you, Bear. RIP. October 18, 1992 – November 18, 2025,” Lofranco’s brother, Santino, shared via Instagram on Thursday, November 20.

Although Lofranco hadn’t acted in a major role since playing John Gotti Jr. in 2018’s Gotti, the Canadian native had a supportive following on social media, as evidenced by the many messages of condolences shared.

“He was in tears last week, wanting to get sober for his mom and dad. It was hitting him hard. RIP,” one user commented, referring to Lofranco’s public struggle with substance abuse.

“I used to go on his Lives and remind him he is beautiful, loved, and cherished. RIP, Bear,” added another. Lofranco would frequently go live on TikTok and Instagram to showcase his artwork and everyday life.

How did Spencer Lofranco die?

According to TMZ, Lofranco’s death is an ongoing investigation in British Columbia, Canada. His cause of death has not yet been determined.

The outlet also reported that Lofranco’s father, Rocco, has yet to comment on his son’s death.

In a 2014 profile with Interview, Lofranco opened up about his Hollywood aspirations. “I decided I wanted to be an actor when I was 17. I was always a funny guy, always trying to make people laugh, and always the center of attention,” he penned at the time.

“I guess I was being an actor my whole life. I finally realized what I was doing, and it was just getting me in trouble. I went to summer acting classes. Then I did a year of conservatory at New York Film Academy, and that’s when I got Jamesy Boy,” Lofranco continued.

“My mom, growing up, was a dancer, an opera singer, and she also did acting. Growing up, sometimes my mom would take me to auditions, and I would sit in the waiting room with her,” he added. “My dad didn’t want me to be an actor; he wanted me to be a hockey player and become a lawyer. That didn’t happen.”
