How to find and use Rainbow Feathers and Silver Feathers in Pokémon Pokopia

7 March 20264 Mins Read

Rainbow Feathers and Silver Feathers are mysterious items dropped by Ho-oh and Lugia in Pokémon Pokopia, and their use isn’t exactly clear in the early stages of the game. You can find these near-immediately if you’re lucky, but you’ll need to hold on to them for a while before you can actually use them.

Below, we explain how to find Rainbow Feathers and Silver Feathers, as well as what the feathers are used for in Pokémon Pokopia.

Where to find Rainbow Feathers and Silver Feathers in Pokémon Pokopia

These feathers get dropped randomly from the sky by their respective legendary birds, Ho-oh or Lugia, from time to time. You can listen closely and hear them squawking in the sky as they fly over the area you’re in, and you can literally see them drop the feather.

If you’re playing at a low volume and are afraid that you’ll miss this cue, don’t fret. Both the Rainbow Feather and the Silver Feather will leave a trail up to the sky, making it easy to see from afar. The Rainbow Feather will create a pillar of smoke and the Silver Feather will have a thin tornado above it, pointing out where they are. Keep your eyes out for these as you roam around the various biomes.

You won’t be able to pick up the feathers right away. You’ll need to use Water Gun on the Rainbow Feather to put out the flames and use Cut on the Silver Feather to slice through the gale. After you do this, you should be able to pick up your loot and carry on.

If you’ve completed the “Brighten Things Up!” important request in Bleak Beach, you can offer food to Mosslax to increase your chances of getting feathers for that day. According to Serebii.net, feeding them food with a “dry” flavor, like Chesto Berries, will trigger this.

What do you use Rainbow Feathers and Silver Feathers for in Pokopia?

Gimmighoul, a Pokémon found in an ash-filled museum in the Rocky Ridges mines, wants the feathers to trade.

After you complete the “Yawn up a Storm!” important request, you can head through the green gate in the northwest to Rocky Ridges. To find Gimmighoul, head into the mines by following the mine tracks that lead north. You’ll want to go past the area where you unlock smelting and Magmar (if you’ve done that already), and keep following the tracks until you get to a room filled with lava. You’ll be able to see the museum from across the lava. You can use Water Gun on the lava to turn it into stone to cross safely.

Once you make it inside the museum, you’ll see Gimmighoul, who will actually give you a request to bring them a Rainbow Feather. Bring them a feather, and then they’ll also start accepting Silver Feathers and appraised relics in exchange for goods.

Based on our experience, Gimmighoul gives a plethora of very random furnishing items. We’ve gotten things like luxury beds and sofas, berry clocks, pop art furniture, and even useful items for changing the environment, like Heat Rocks.

Just like the other items in the game, you can also display these in a frame, if you want, but the primary use for these seems to be trading with Gimmighoul. There may be other uses for these feathers, like as a crafting material, but from all the recipes we’ve found so far, none require these feathers. Either way, we wouldn’t fault you if you wanted to hold on to a couple of them, just in case.

If you’re starting out in Pokémon Pokopia, we have guides to help you spruce up your island. We have both a Pokédex and Habitat Dex to assist in figuring out what can spawn where, and what you need to build to summon your favorite creatures. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you can also check out our beginner’s guide for some early tips and tricks to help smooth out your journey.

We also have walkthroughs for the important requests that progress the story: “Yawn up a Storm!,” “Brighten Things Up!,” “Time to Party!,” and “Build the Huge Building!” If you’re looking to play with friends, know that there are restrictions for the regular Pokopia multiplayer and for the GameShare version.
