The day is almost here. On Monday, April 28, 2025, Canadians across the country will head to the polls to cast their vote to determine who will be the next prime minister of Canada.
Voting is a right, but it’s also an incredible privilege. The 2021 federal election only saw a voter turnout of 62.6 per cent — that’s a lot of Canadians who skipped the polls. However, 2025 is already off to a stellar start with an estimated 7.3 million electors casting votes at advanced polls held from April 18 through 21. That’s a whopping 25 per cent increase from the advance polls in 2021.
Voting is a reward in and of itself, but on top of that, two Calgary ice cream companies are offering sweet treats to anyone who can prove they voted.
Lick the Vote
Village Ice Cream is hosting its Lick the Vote campaign on Monday, April 28. Customers are encouraged to cast a vote and take a selfie outside of their polling station. From there, they can present the selfie at any Village Ice Cream shop between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. for a free kids scoop. The offer is also eligible for anyone who voted at the advance polls, as long as they have a selfie ready.
Election workers are also invited for a treat on April 29 with proof of Elections Canada employment.
But that’s not all. Made By Marcus is also offering free kids scoops across its locations for anyone who can prove they voted, and election workers are also invited for a free scoop on April 29 with proof of employment.
Cast your vote, get your ice cream, and celebrate Canadian democracy on April 28 in Calgary. See you at the polls!
