In Pokémon Pokopia, lumber is an important material that you need to start making useful items — as well as the cute ones.
With lumber, it’s possible to craft storage boxes, which increase the amount of materials and items you can store but without cluttering your inventory. At the same time, you use lumber to craft wooden siding, which you can use to give form to your Pokémon village.
Although the process is simple, you need to unlock Pokémon with a specific specialty and collect the right materials to learn how to make lumber in Pokémon Pokopia.
How to make lumber in Pokémon Pokopia
To make lumber, you must give Scyther (or any Pokémon with the Chop specialty) small logs. Scyther is the first Pokémon with Chop that you’ll get access to. It only needs a few minutes to finish the process. Although Scyther prepares the material for free, the Pokémon won’t send the lumber to you. You need to talk to Scyther to collect the material once it finishes cutting the logs.
To obtain small logs, you can either use the Cut ability — which you learn by unlocking Scyther — to break wooden beams you find on the ground or to cut down trees. Cutting beams grants you more small logs than cutting down trees. If you haven’t met this Pokémon yet, be sure to prepare a “tree-shaded tall grass” habitat. You need one large tree (any) and four tall grass.
With the small logs in your inventory, go talk to Scyther. Select the “Look at this!” dialogue option to select the logs. A new list of dialogue options will prompt. Go with the “Make me some lumber” option. For each small log you hand over, it will make five pieces of lumber.
When speaking to them, you can choose the “It’s for you!” option, but this gives the log as a gift to the Pokémon, who won’t turn it into lumber.
Where to find lumber in Pokémon Pokopia
You can also just find lumber on the ground, though it’s not super common. You can typically find these near the aforementioned wooden beams, or around broken-down structures. They look like little broken planks.
Once you pick all of these up, you will need to use a Pokémon with Chop to make lumber, which is much more efficient anyway, since they make so much lumber from only a few logs.
