Explore the world of Prime Groceries in Canada. Learn how to save money on everyday items with Amazon’s offerings.
Before you think I’m trying to scam you into thinking there are Amazon Prime Groceries you can find for less than the grocery store, consider the source.
I’ve been blogging for over 12 years about grocery savings for Canadians, and I want everyone to understand the pathways to savings availability.
Are There Amazon Fresh Stores In Canada?
Unlike the United States, that have 64 Amazon Fresh Stores, we do not have this in Canada, yet.
Amazon Fresh is an online and physical grocery store. We offer low prices on everyday favorites, plus same-day delivery and free pickup.
However, you can find just about anything else in the Amazon Canada online grocery category that can help save and diversify where you spend money in your food budget.
Can I Return Amazon Prime Groceries For A Refund?
YES, you can complain about grocery products that are non-returnable with customer service.
They never ask for the product back due to health reasons but will ask you for an explanation about the problem and want to see photos of the item.
Often, I see review complaints from people who don’t contact customer service and level a bad review when, most often, it’s not the seller, it’s the packaging or delivery that causes issues.
Grocery Costs In Canada Surpass Inflation
With the price of groceries in Canada at an all-time high and rising, we must stay focused on the big picture, quality, and savings.
In June, Statistics Canada stated that groceries rose by over 3.4%, surpassing the overall inflation rate of 2.6%. What does that mean? It means that groceries are costing Canadians far too much.
That’s why I’ve been searching far and wide for grocery savings from discount stores to using mobile apps, rewards programs, coupons, price matching, and so forth.
If you’re like us and find great deals online and pay for an Amazon Prime account, you know there are savings for all budgets.
I’ve even created an Amazon Prime Storefront where I post products that we’ve used on the blog or in our household.
Anything I can do to lead my readers in the direction of potential savings, I’ll share.
The rest is up to you!
Cost of Amazon Prime Canada Membership
If you feel that you will use Amazon for all it offers, then getting a Prime Membership might be right.
There are specific products we purchase from Amazon because we know it’s always a better deal or a product that’s hard to find.
It’s better to pay extra instead of shipping from another website and buying the minimum to get free shipping.
You might be hard-pressed to find online businesses offering free shipping without spending a specified amount. Even then, free shipping is not guaranteed.
Although Amazon Prime has a cost, it quickly pays for itself.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the costs:
- Regular Membership: $9.99 per month or $99 per year
- Student Membership: $4.99 per month or $49 per year
- Free Trial: 30 days for new members
The annual membership offers cost savings compared to a monthly membership, so we pay the year’s fee upfront.
Unfortunately, not all Amazon Prime members know where to look for grocery savings and only search for a specific product instead of locating comparable items.
Not only that, but with an Amazon Prime membership, grocery savings are spread over various layers.
Below, I will explain how we find awesome Amazon Prime deals delivered to our house so we don’t have to leave.
1. Amazon Grocery Coupons

One of the most popular savings on Amazon is coupons, because they are often paired with other discounts. It feels like you’re double and sometimes triple-dipping into the savings pot.
Below are three examples of the types of savings coupons you will find under the coupon category.
Once you click on coupons, you can filter your search to ‘Grocery and Gourmet Food’.
The first photo below in the collage shows a product that is -6% plus a further 5% if you subscribe and save to the product.
However, the second product is -36% with a further 10% coupon to be applied immediately. Ensure you click the box, or you won’t get the item.
Now, you’ll get -46% off the price. The last photo is a 5% off coupon matched with a one-time purchase.
Sometimes merchants forget to remove coupons and discounts, and offer a product discount, so you can quickly snag the deal before it changes.
I don’t know if they do this on purpose to generate a buzz on Amazon or if they forget and it’s an oops!
Either way, always check under the coupons tab, use the filters, and read what the discount entails.

2. Subscribe and Save

Two of the best things about Subscribe and Save with Amazon is that you get a discount and cancelling is super easy.
You can cancel immediately and not have to continue with a subscription after the first delivery.
The cool part is that you won’t lose that big first subscribe and save discount you received.
If it’s a product you want to be delivered monthly or at a designated time, and the price is right, then it’s easy to set up subscribe and save.
When you click on a product, Amazon offers you the option to click “One-Time Purchase” or “Subscribe and Save” with a discounted price.

Below are four products that we have a subscription to on Amazon.
Also, if the product is unavailable, Amazon asks the buyer to put in a backup product they could send you instead.

With Subscribe and Save, I pay $47.49 instead of $59.99 for one purchase. That’s worth it for our budget.
3. Reseller of Amazon Grocery Products

Reseller products, also known as Amazon Warehouse Deals, is a category where you can find excellent prices on everything.
Almost daily, we look at reseller groceries to see what lucrative offers there are.
For example, Mrs. CBB picked up full boxes of Birthday Quest bars for $20, reg $46.99. Awesome deal.
Reseller or Warehouse deals are products that might have been returned to Amazon with cosmetic damage, no damage, or will arrive with no packaging.
You’ll also find that any products that haven’t sold and have a shorter best-before date will be sold for a reduced price.

4. Amazon Grocery Outlet Overstock Deals

Like brick-and-mortar grocery stores, Amazon sellers can order too much stock.
Products, especially food items, come with a best-before or expiry date.
A best before means that the product is still edible; however, the quality, such as taste, freshness, or texture, and nutritional value may be affected.
An expiry date means the product may go off at a particular time or should be put in the bin as it’s no longer safe to consume.
If you’re familiar with the Flashfood App, they use the same premise behind it, selling overstock like Amazon at reduced prices.
Please don’t sit on the purchase, though, as they are in limited supply.
5. Lightning and Limited-Time Grocery Deals

Businesses use these marketing techniques to excite shoppers and drum up traffic. It puts products before the consumer and offers the seller a better opportunity to sell.
Information about the promotion will be available when you see lightning or limited-time deals under the Amazon Grocery category.
For example, you will see how much of the product has been purchased already, giving you a heads-up about product availability.
If 30% of a product is claimed, that leaves 70%, but they don’t tell you how many they have available.
That’s why when you see a product with a price you know is the best, don’t wait to order it.
6. Yearly Amazon Prime Day
You may have heard of the widely popular Amazon Prime Day in Canada, an annual multi-day savings event exclusively for Prime members.
In 2025, Prime Day was a three-day event held in July, offering members significant discounts on everything, including groceries.
Members also received free and fast shipping as part of the Prime membership, which makes the savings lucrative. You don’t need to leave your home.
On Amazon Prime Day, keep an eye on all categories, including resale and outlet groceries, as there are always deals.
7. Amazon Prime Daily Grocery Deals

Daily, you can log into your Amazon Prime account and find grocery deals of the day.
Some may be limited-time deals or stick around for the entire day.
It’s essential to read the information to know if there is a time limit or a limited quantity.
8. Buy Grocery Products In Bulk

Like Costco, you can also buy many grocery products in bulk on Amazon.
Buying in bulk is great if you have a large family or business, or want to split with friends.
However, if you own a business, consider the Business Prime account and earn better discounts than Amazon Prime Members.
How to buy in bulk at Amazon Canada:
When you click on a product, always check the available sizes and whether the seller offers bulk purchases.
Also, when buying in bulk, check to see if purchasing 1 of the exact item costs less because it’s on sale.
Always do the math.
For example, we recently purchased a case of 12 120g packages of Rice Up Brown Rice Cakes for $17.17, regular $34.99. If we bought one pack, that would have cost us $3.29.
Another fantastic deal I found is this 6-pack of Kraft Peanut Butter for $49.99.
When writing this post, a 2kg container of Kraft Peanut Butter in Canadian grocery stores ranges from $11-$14.
However, it was on sale at Amazon for $9.09 for 2kg, so it’s still cheaper to buy in bulk.
- Walmart $10.97
- Real Canadian Superstore $11.99
- Costco Canada Online $13.99 (likely a bit cheaper in the store)
- Sobeys $13.99
- Amazon Canada $10.97
- Save On Foods $14.49
- Loblaws $14.99
- No Frills $11.50
- Food Basics $11.49
- Metro $11.99

Always check the prices against what other stores have to ensure you’re getting the best deal.
Also, check the best-before or expiration date to see if the product is on sale, like the one we purchased.
Doing so lets you estimate whether you can eat them before they lose flavour or quality diminishes.

Like other coupon and grocery pages for Canadian shoppers, many social media influencers run Amazon Facebook pages.
For example, we follow Discount Hunters Canada on Facebook, where admins share awesome Amazon deals.

The admins work for you and scour Amazon Canada for deals they post daily and nightly on their page.
By using their link to Amazon, you also help support the page or blog by assisting them in earning a tiny affiliate income.

Is Buying Amazon Prime Groceries Worth It?
Honestly, it’s a personal decision based on needs and budget, but for our family, having an Amazon Prime membership is worth it.
About two years ago, I created the Canadian Budget Binder Amazon storefront, showcasing products we’ve used in our kitchen.
Remember that prices on Amazon increase and decrease throughout the day, so if you want something and it’s on sale, don’t wait.
Lastly, as mentioned, always check your prices to ensure you are getting the best deals.
