A friendly frog gives you a tip about stealing Pinky’s ladder in Mina the Hollower, which, at the time, seems a bit random. Why would you want to steal a kindly gorilla’s ladder anyway? The answer is to get a very important collectible, though you’ll have to be a bit sneaky in how you go about doing it.

Below, we explain how to steal Pinky’s ladder in Mina the Hollower and why you’d want to, anyway.

Before you can steal Pinky’s ladder, you’ll need to first purchase an item that is on the far right or left on the shelf behind them. That way, they’ll move the ladder to either side and grab your newly purchased item. Then, they’ll leave it there, giving you more time and space to steal the ladder without getting caught.

Now, you’ll need to somehow get behind the counter. If you looked at the front of Pinky’s Parlor and thought there must be another entrance, you’re right. Bust open a new path by attacking the round plant in the bottom right corner. These are the Backwaters’ equivalent of the cracked tombstones, walls, and tree stumps you’ll find elsewhere on the island, so make sure to attack them anytime you see them to unlock new paths or get extra bones.

Anyway, follow the path around to the back of the parlor, and head inside. You’ll see a ledge that’s out of reach with a collectible at the far end, and Pinky’s ladder is the only way to climb up there. If you get too close to him, though, he grabs you and tosses you across the counter back to the customer entrance.

Approach the ladder and burrow under it, but stay as close to the side of the ladder as possible to keep Pinky from noticing. Pop up, and take the ladder to the ledge.

Your prize for swiping Pinky’s shop tool is a joule box, an item that increases how many joules you can hold, which means you can use your sidearms more often before having to restock.

Pinky’s ladder can also be used elsewhere across the Backwaters to get more collectibles, including the Evasion Powder trinket, which is on a house just left of the Swamp Station, but make sure to also take it south of the station into Loner’s Landing.

Place the ladder just beside the rope, and venture off to the east to find the ship that you first started out on. This will open up another path that you can use to travel around Tenebrous Isle.
