How to train your pets in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

27 August 20253 Mins Read

If you’ve been eager to find your own adorable pet in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, you’ll sadly have to wait a little while.

While you can purchase chickens, cows, sheep, and alpacas for your barn by the time mid-Spring rolls in, you’ll unfortunately be hard-pressed to find a dog or cat. If you’re someone who checks the calendar regularly to prepare for events, you might be wondering how you can best prepare for the Pet Show, by training your pet, without having a pet in the first place.

Read on below to find out how you’re able to get and train your pet in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar.

How to get a pet in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

Alright, so maybe you’re looking at how to even get a pet in the first place. The Pet Show is happening on Summer 3, and you’ve not even got a pet yet, so what gives?

Don’t fret. As you enter early Summer, you’ll be visited by Ramon, who will explain the ins and outs of owning a pet and why they’re important to your farm work. Cats herd small animals, such as chickens, whereas dogs do the same for larger animals, like cows and sheep. At that point, you’ll have the option to pick which animal you want: a cat or a dog.

Don’t feel like you’ve missed out on picking one animal or the other. You’re able to adopt a new pet at Ramon’s stall after you’re first given a pet (the price varies, depending on the pet and the type on display)..

The best way to train your dog or cat is through the use of pet treats. It’s only with this treat that you can begin your training sessions.

You can obtain a pet treat in a variety of different ways. The first option is to visit Miguel’s general store, Miguel Mercantile, as well as his stall at the bazaar on Saturdays, and buy the treat for 397g each.

However, as they can be quite pricey if you plan to train your pet every day, I recommend making the pet treat using the windmill at your farm. The items required to make the pet treat are soybeans (obtainable via the marketplace in Summer, as well as being able to grow the crop yourself in Summer, too) and any fish.

Once you receive your pet treat, make sure it is equipped in your hand. Then go up to your pet, and once you interact with them, you’ll be able to train them.

You’ll be taken to a training menu mini-game, where you have to press the right buttons in order to have your pet perform tricks — such as sitting, lying down, and barking. Try not to make any mistakes, as you can only train your pet once a day. Keep on at it and you’ll be ready to win that all-important trophy at the Zephyr Town Pet Show.

That’s everything you need to know about pets and pet training in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar.
