Upgrading your needle will improve your damage output in Hollow Knight: Silksong, but it might take a while for you to find the Pinmaster.
The enemies in Silksong deal a lot of damage, so it’s only right for you to dish it back and deal a lot of damage as well. However, to do so, you’ll need to make a long trek over to Bellhart, a town cursed with silk. To make things worse, you’ll need to complete the “The Threadspun Town” quest and cleanse the haunted town.

How to upgrade the needle in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Prior to upgrading your needle, you’ll need to complete the quest “The Threadspun Town,” which can be started in Bellhart.
After you fulfill the wish, ascend to the top right section of Bellhart to find a storefront with needles on its sign. Head inside to meet with Pinmaster Plinney, who will upgrade your needle for free — for the first time at least.
For the next upgrade, you’ll be tasked with retrieving a Pale Oil from the Citadel and returning to Plinney. Unfortunately, we haven’t completed this step yet, so we don’t know its exact location. After we collect the Pale Oil, we will update this guide with its location and any future upgrades.
