Psychopathy, or psychopathic personality, is a personality construct characterized by impaired empathy and remorse, persistent antisocial behavior, along with bold, disinhibited, and egocentric traits. These traits are often masked by superficial charm and immunity to stress, which create an outward appearance of apparent normalcy. (Wikipedia)
We in the West are increasingly becoming a society of psychopaths.
In just over 24 hours since political activist Charlie Kirk was killed while speaking at a Utah university, I have spent far too much time challenging people who have posted messages that I believe tell everyone in their networks that they are psychopaths – or at least display psychopathic behaviour.
There is a variety of definitions for psychopathy, but most centre on a lack of empathy and inability to accept responsibility for their actions.
Now, I am not a psychologist, but I have studied the subject (TRUMP – advice on how to manage this meddlesome mental malady), and it seems to me that you do not have to torture animals or decapitate humans in order to be a psychopath.
If you celebrate the murder of a person who is not a criminal but says things that annoy you, you might be a psychopath.
If you spread information (much of it false or misleading) to justify your hatred and lack of empathy for a person who was murdered, you might be a psychopath.
If you were excited to hear about the murder of a married father of two young children, you might be a psychopath.
If you declare – or even insinuate – publicly that you believe that a man deserved to be murdered because you did not like his views, you might be a psychopath.
I understand that many of those currently displaying psychopathic tendencies were not always that way. Some of them were really nice people (RNP – Really nice people are a really big problem) before the turn of this decade.
The year 2000 was when a lot of really nice people started their descent into mean-spirited mental illness.
In the year 2000, a lot of RNP bought into the idea that lockdown-and-vaccinate was the only sensible approach to a spreading COVID-19, and that anyone who opposed restrictive measures and mandated immunization was a very bad person.
Being on the “righteous” side of the COVID issue made a lot of RNP feel extra good about themselves. Many enjoyed participating in the digital mass beatings that were perpetrated on those who dared to speak out against lockdowns and the “safe and effective” vaccines.
Of course, algorithms and government overreach (especially the Biden administration, which pressured the major media companies to censor “disinformation” … aka facts) made things worse, as did the common practice of RNP blocking anyone who presented evidence that conflicted with their views on the subject.
When those formerly really nice people (FRNP) started to realize that the COVID lockdowns and vaccines had caused extreme collateral (and direct) damage (Analysis of excess deaths in 2020 reveals surprising deviations, Analysis of severe events following COVID vaccine shows increased incidence of myocarditis and lymphadenopathy), none of them said, “Oops – I was wrong. Sorry about that.” Instead, they leaned on each other and continue to this day to tell each other that they did the right thing, and that those “conspiracy theorists” on the other side are still dangerous scum.
However, the evidence started to become VERY clear that they were on the wrong side of the COVID debate (Detailed analysis of 2021 death data reveals disturbing trends), so the formerly really nice but now kind of mean people (FRNBNKOMP) started avoiding COVID conversation altogether.
“I don’t want to talk about this anymore – it’s time to move on,” said FRNBNKOMP.
What other issue could make FRNBNKOMP feel supremely virtuous so that they could look down on others in the same way that COVID self-righteousness really got the endorphins pumping?
Ah, yes – climate change.
The formerly really nice then kind of mean but now sort of psychopathic people (FRNTKOMBNSOPP) jumped all over anthropogenic climate change. It felt SOOO good to beat up on the climate deniers who tried to point out that FRNTKOMBNSOPP’s wardrobes, vacations, and very lifestyles depended on the “fossil fuel” industry that was being targeted … and that climate science is a deeply nuanced subject (Real climate science – uncertainty and risk).
However, similar to the COVID debacle, FRNTKOMBNSOPP started to realize that “surging seas” were not coming for us all (Portuguese comic rising even faster than global sea level), and that climate crusaders such as United Nations secretary-general Antonio Guterres, former United States vice-president Al Gore, screaming (former) teenager Greta Thunberg, and Canadian activist-turned-federal-minister Steven Guibeault had no real education in climate science but were profiting greatly from climate alarmism.
“Now, who can we hate and denigrate so that we can feel morally superior?” said FRNTKOMBNSOSP.
Donald Trump to the rescue.
“Any MAGA moron willing to support a convicted predator running for president AGAIN is a despicable person,” FRNTKOMBNSOSP said. “We are wonderful, really nice people, and they are evil.”
When I noticed the strange fixation on the U.S. president and his followers, I offered psychological support (TRUMP – advice on how to manage this meddlesome mental malady), but it does not seem to have helped.
The vitriol spread and intensified … to the point at which many of those formerly really nice people are now full-on lunatics or psychopaths (FLOPs) who celebrate the murder of an innocent man
