The “Aidy Bryant effect” is finally coming to Netflix US. After making waves across international territories earlier this year, we can confirm that the critically acclaimed Hulu Original comedy Shrill has locked in its domestic US Netflix premiere date.

We can confirm that all three seasons of Shrill will be available to stream on Netflix US starting Monday, June 8th, 2026.

A Global Licensing Hit

As we previously reported, Shrill began its Netflix journey in late February when it arrived in the UK, Australia, and Canada. While the show is branded as a “Hulu Original” in the States, it is produced and distributed by Warner Bros. Television, which has been aggressively licensing its library to Netflix over the last 18 months.

The move to bring the show to Netflix US is a logical next step, especially considering how well the series performed when it hit international waters.

The series joining Netflix US is not expected to impact the series availability on Disney+ and Hulu.

How Shrill Performed Internationally

If you’re wondering why Netflix was keen to bring this to the US market, look no further than the numbers. The series proved to be a significant “binge” hit across the Commonwealth, spending over a week in the Top 10 in multiple major markets.

Here is a breakdown of its Top 10 performance following its February addition:

Country Days in Top 10 Peak Position
Australia 10 Days #2
Malta 9 Days #3
New Zealand 9 Days #3
Ireland 8 Days #4
United Kingdom 8 Days #5
Canada 7 Days #4

In Australia, the show narrowly missed out on the #1 spot, maintaining a strong average of 6.1 points per day during its run. These are impressive numbers for a library title that had already been available on local broadcasters for several years.

What is ‘Shrill’ About?

Based on the memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman by Lindy West, the series stars Aidy Bryant (SNL) as Annie, an aspiring journalist who decides to change her life—but not her body.

Alongside Bryant, the series featured Cameron Britton, Vanessa Bayer, Fred Armisen, Lolly Adefope, Daniel Stern, Illeane Douglas, and Lesli Grossman, among many others.

The series was a pioneer in body-positive storytelling, choosing to focus on Annie’s professional ambitions and complex friendships rather than a typical “weight loss” narrative. Alongside her best friend Fran (played by the scene-stealing Lolly Adefope), Annie navigates the pitfalls of the digital media world and the frustrations of mediocre boyfriends.

Are you glad to see Annie and Fran finally coming to Netflix US? Let us know if you’ll be binging the whole series on June 8th in the comments!
