Spring Hotels acquires Mare Nostrum Resort Tenerife from Brookfield

Spanish owner-operator Spring Hotels Group has acquired the 1,037-room Mare Nostrum Resort Tenerife, Spain, from Canadian investment firm Brookfield Asset Management’s operator Selenta Group, for €430 million (€414,700 per room). The complex includes three hotels, the five-star, 536-room Hotel Mediterranean Palace, the five-star, 70-room Hotel Sir Anthony, and the four-star, 431-room Cleopatra Palace and. The beachfront resort features numerous restaurants and bars including a Hard Rock Cafe franchise and a beach club, as well as a conference centre with 22 event spaces that include the 3,000 seat Pirámide de Arona. Brookfield acquired the resort in 2021 as part of its acquisition of Selenta Group, and reportedly invested a further €56 million refurbishing the resort. 

M&L acquires Hotel Maria in Helsinki from Samla Capital

Singaporean hospitality real estate investor M&L Group has acquired the five-star, 116-room Hotel Maria in Helsinki, Finland, from Finnish real estate investment company Samla Capital Oy. The property is situated in the Kruununhaka district near the Northern Harbour. Housed in a historical building from the 19th century, the hotel includes a restaurant, bar and five meeting rooms. M&L has signed a management agreement with Hilton, and the hotel is set to be rebranded as the Waldorf Astoria Helsinki later this year. 

Leonardo acquires Mercure and Ibis hotels in Hannover from Essendi

Leonardo Hotels, the European division of Israeli owner-operator Fattal Hotel Group, has acquired the four-star, 112-room Mercure Hotel Hannover Medical Park and the three-star, 96-room Ibis Hannover Medical Park in Germany, from French owner-operator Essendi (formerly AccorInvest). The two properties are adjacent to each other and situated in eastern Hannover, within the Hannover Medical Park. Both hotels will be rebranded and merged into the new Leonardo Hannover Medical Park. The Mercure section is scheduled to reopen this month, while the Ibis portion will be refurbished and is expected to reopen in the fourth quarter of 2025. The combined hotel will include restaurants, bars, seven meeting rooms and an outdoor pool.  

Switch Management acquires Queens Hotel & Spa in Bournemouth, UK

UK asset management company Switch Management has acquired the four-star, 109-room Queens Hotel & Spa in Bournemouth, UK. The property is situated on Bournemouth’s East Cliff, just a short walk from Bournemouth Beach. The hotel includes a restaurant, bar and indoor swimming pool. Birmingham-based Switch already operates a number of hospitality assets in the Midlands, but this marks the company’s first hotel acquisition. The group plans to invest in short and long-term projects to reposition the Queens Hotel & Spa in line with their managed hospitality portfolio, with a focus on enhancing its weddings and corporate events offering.
