Hyatt Hotels Corporation has outlined plans to significantly increase its presence in Portugal by opening four new hotels by 2027. This expansion aims to tap into the growing tourism market in Portugal, which is experiencing a surge in foreign investment in its hospitality sector.
The expansion will include the introduction of two lifestyle brands, Andaz and The Standard, in Lisbon. Andaz Lisbon is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2026, marking the brand’s debut in Portugal. The hotel will feature 170 rooms and suites. The Standard, Lisbon, expected to open later in 2026, will be located in the historic Palácio Santa Clara and will offer 197 rooms and suites.
Additionally, Hyatt plans to open the Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve, which will be situated near Vilamoura Marina. This hotel will provide over 250 rooms and suites and is designed to cater to the region’s sports tourism market. Another planned opening is the Hyatt Regency Cape Verde Sal, which will be the first Hyatt hotel in the Cape Verde archipelago. This property will be located on the island of Sal, known for its beaches and cultural attractions.
These developments are part of Hyatt’s strategy to expand its brand footprint in key business hubs and popular holiday destinations. The company aims to meet the increasing demand for accommodations in Portugal, which has become an attractive market for both leisure and business travelers.
The planned openings follow the 2022 launch of the Hyatt Regency Lisbon, which offers a riverside location in Belém with access to cultural landmarks.
