The Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection survey reveals that Americans are seeking more quality time, with travel emerging as a key facilitator for deeper connections and meaningful moments.

Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection has unveiled the Time Rich Report, a comprehensive national survey conducted in collaboration with Wakefield Research. The report explores how Americans perceive and manage their time, with a particular focus on the role of travel in enhancing quality time with loved ones. As the findings suggest, a significant portion of Americans yearn for more meaningful interactions, with travel being identified as a crucial element in achieving this goal.

Quality Time and Travel: An Inextricable Link

The survey results indicate that 82% of Americans feel they lack sufficient time with important people in their lives, underlining a widespread desire for deeper connections. Furthermore, 62% of respondents associate travel with quality time, viewing it as an opportunity to reconnect with loved ones, whether as a couple, a family, or individually. These insights highlight the evolving perception of travel as a medium for creating purposeful moments and meaningful experiences.

Industry Implications

Ana Tomicevic, Vice President and Global Brand Leader of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, emphasized that travel is about more than just escaping routine; it is about arriving at shared experiences. The survey suggests that the travel industry should focus on strategies that maximize quality time while minimizing planning stress and distractions. Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection is already committed to this approach, with over 140 all-inclusive resorts. It plans to enhance its mission through new programs and a partnership with mindfulness expert Deepak Chopra, M.D.

Challenges and Opportunities

The survey highlights several challenges that individuals and families face in managing their time effectively. Parents, in particular, report feeling stretched thin, with 86% expressing a lack of quality time and spending nearly as much time on devices as with their children. Despite these challenges, 42% of parents would prioritize a dream family trip if financial constraints were absent, recognizing the potential of travel to unite families.

Couples also face time constraints, with 31% reporting that they have insufficient time together. However, 84% believe that time spent away together has a positive impact on their relationship, even after returning home. This underscores the lasting benefits of shared travel experiences.

Solo Travel and Self-Care

The report also addresses the rising issue of loneliness, with 55% of respondents feeling lonely and only half having had a meaningful conversation in the past week. Travel offers a potential remedy, as 50% of respondents say that planning a trip improves their mood. Additionally, 25% of individuals express a willingness to travel alone or with friends, highlighting a growing trend of solo travel as a form of self-care.

Key Takeaways

The Time Rich Report by Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection sheds light on the critical role of travel in fostering quality time and meaningful connections. As Americans continue to seek deeper relationships and purposeful experiences, the travel industry is presented with both challenges and opportunities to meet these evolving needs. By prioritizing strategies that enhance quality time and reduce the stress of planning, the industry can play a pivotal role in helping individuals and families reclaim their time.
